I do not recommend taking the road to get to the campground unless you're absolutely confident your car can handle it off-road. With that said, it is so worth the journey. Beautiful and quiet, with loads to explore 😊
CAUTION !!!! The views along this road from US Hwy 550 (MM 62) are stunning but a single high clearance vehicle is absolutely required and 4 wheel drive is highly recommended. NO TOWED VEHICLES/TRAILERS. The road is extremely rough with large sharp rocks and only wide enough for a single vehicle. If you meet anyone coming the other way you've got a problem. Passing each other is only possible in a few places and it's 4.5 miles from US 550 to the campground. I normally like to stay 7-14 days anywhere I camp but chose to turn around at the first opportunity which was about halfway to the campground. My vehicle is a 28 foot skoolie, bumper to bumper. I have no doubt I could have made it to the campground (at a snail's pace) but with thunderstorms predicted almost daily for the next 10 days I was concerned about being able to get back to US 550. If you can make it to the campground, I'm sure it would be worth the effort. GOOD LUCK.
Amazing campsite all the way in the bottom of the canyon next to the creek. Really challenging road on the way in but nothing too difficult for high clearance 4X4. Beautiful
One of the nicest places i have ever been. We hiked most of the creek, then hikd up halfway to needles point. Our first night, we even had a VERY LARGE BEAR try to join us for dinner. Needless to say, camping in a tent, my wife and I slept with one eye open.
Remote and Beautiful. But you need a high clearance vehicle
