Sand campground with pretty views of the water for a good price. Campground: Elephant Butte has 3 separate campgrounds as well as many boondocking spots. All have sand camp sites with some small trees and shrubs. No large shade trees. The retaining walls for Lion’s Beach is a bit high and railing might be dangerous if you have small children. Campsite #66 Our campsite was a back-in sand site. It required a little bit of leveling. Our site had partial hookups: water and & 30 amp, but no sewer. It had a covered patio which was nice, picnic table, fire ring, and layover grill attachment. Propane refill not at the campground, but Tractor Supply about 8 miles away. Dump station at Quail Run Campground inside the park. It’s busy since it’s the only one for all the campgrounds but it is free to use. Wifi: The campground has wifi but we couldn’t get a speed test or even see it from our site. Verizon and Starlink were good enough for streaming and teleconferencing. Noise Level: It was fairly quiet. A little campground road noise at times but it was far enough from any major roadways. Amenities: They had several bathrooms throughout the park and a few had showers. Some dumpsters located at the entrance to each campground. No laundry facilities at the campground. There are 2 laundromats in town about 8 miles away. No pool, but the reservoir is about a mile away. There is a large playground near the front of the park. Other facilities: They have a marina and boat ramp for use on the reservoir. Dog friendly: The park is dog friendly, but there were no off-leash facilities. They did have a few stations for pickup bags scattered throughout the park, and they were fully stocked. Unfortunately, they did not have trash cans and there was a lot of doggy poopoo that was not cleaned up. Camp store: No camp store, but there was a Dollar General and Family Dollar about 2 miles away. Walmart was about 5 miles away. Amazon Locker: no locker close by but multiple post offices as well as Fedex and UPS stores for package delivery. Camp staff interactions: Reservation process: Online only. Ranger at the front gate was friendly and helpful. Additional info: Make sure to follow the signs and not your GPS inside the park. You need to take the first left which is a paved road. The GPS will take you to the 2nd left which is a sand road. Cost for water and electric site is $14/night. For water only it’s $10 and for boondocking it’s $8 Value: (4) We felt this was a good value for what they had on offer especially including water and electric

Fantastic few days camping on the edge of the lake off Lake Point (cove) - quiet from rest of the lake jet skis and boats. Clean/shallow (ish) water with herons, pelicans and geese to watch all day. Highly recommend.

Nice area. Showers just okay, camp parking was a bit too close to each other.

This place is wonderful and other worldly all at the same time!! The camp host on the B loop were incredible! They made sure we knew all about trick or treating both in and out of the park for my little humans. Soo quiet and clear at night and the ability to drive right up to the water is always cool. Nice people, nice beach, nice playground. If you're around, eat lunch by the water. It's so calming! Note, that's not the spot we were in, that's the spot directly across from the playground.

There are no words to express how amazing this place is, our camp host was a young lady who is sweet always a smile and a wave every time she drove by. It’s a very clean and family orientated area without a doubt we will be back to visit again. In all our travels, this is by far one of our favorites.
