What a treat. There are multiple places to camp at Lion's Den, but one puts all the others to shame. This is the penthouse suite of campsites. If you're coming from HWY 1 its a bit of trek but well worth it if you can snag the penthouse.

This campground is worth the effort. And it does take effort! We came here from Salmon Creek Falls, via Spruce Camp, via Estrella Camp. It's a good 6-6.5 miles (we got different estimates from different websites). The trail from Estrella to Lions Den is uphill all the way (a tough haul with a heavy backpack) but it's a lovely (and somewhat technical) trail. And Lions Den was icing on the cake, especially the tent site at the top of the hill. There's a decent water supply via the creek (at least there was in late June).
