Little Laiser Meadow Horse Campground Introduce
Little Laiser Meadow Horse Campground, located in Sierraville, CA 96126, and reachable at (530) 994-3401 or +1 530-994-3401, provides a tranquil camping experience within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category. This campground is known for its quiet and peaceful atmosphere, surrounded by a dense pine forest.
While the name suggests it's primarily for horse camping, it also welcomes traditional tents and RVs. The campground offers a limited number of sites, approximately 11, with ample space between them, ensuring a more private experience compared to other, more crowded campgrounds in the area. The campground is located a short drive from a lake, adding to its appeal.
However, potential visitors should be aware of some limitations. The bathrooms do not have flushing toilets, and water is obtained via a hand pump faucet, reminiscent of older, more rustic camping experiences. Additionally, there is no phone service, meaning no access to social media or reliable communication. The roads leading to the campground are gravel, not paved, though they are reported to be well-maintained.
It's important to note that while designated as a horse campground, it is not exclusively used by horse campers. Reviews indicate that non-horse campers also utilize the sites, which has caused some disappointment among horse enthusiasts. Also, during deer hunting season, the campground becomes heavily occupied by hunters. The campground is maintained by Gold Country Trails Council.
Overall, Little Laiser Meadow Horse Campground offers a quiet and peaceful forest retreat, ideal for those seeking a secluded camping experience. However, visitors should be prepared for limited amenities and potential crowding during hunting season.

Great campsite to go to. So quiet and peaceful surrounded by a dense forest of pine trees. You don't need a horse to stay here neither traditional tents & rv's are welcomed. Very close to the lake short drive. The only downsides are the bathrooms have no flushing toilets & one water faucet that you have to pump in order to get water out of, kind of like the old western days. Also don't think about being on phone because there is no service so no social media. No paved roads to get into campsite neither but it is nicely gravelled so the road isn't to bad. Great forest scenery creeks all around beautiful forest. I highly recomend this campsite especially if you want quiet & peace. Took a drive to see other campsites around reservoir and they are paved but way more people and looks as if those campsites are close to each other. This campsite on the other hand has but only a handful of spots maybe like 11, and plenty of space between them. Much quieter
Just returned from Little Laiser horse camping. It's a beautiful spot but was disappointed that although this is a HORSE camp 5 of the 11 sites were occupied by non horse campers. (Which is reflects in 3 star rating.) With so many campgrounds available to the non horse community I dont understand why they are allowed here. Most horse campgrounds are maintained by local horse organizations, this one by Gold Country Trails Council. In fairness the reservation site does not say horses are required. Also note that once deer hunting season opens the campground is heavily occupied by hunters.
Some sites are on the side of a hill. They are listed as rv sites but impossible to level. Dry camping setup. Fairly quiet.
Like I camped in a Disney movie, one without the dead parents.
