We camp a lot in NY and VT and this is the worst campground we’ve been to in years. Our site was found littered with trash including cannabis wrappers and there was ash on the picnic table. Bathrooms run down, very dirty, not stocked with soap. The place was continuously loud and chaotic, and quiet hours were not enforced. Playground laughably small. Look elsewhere unless you enjoy trash, music, generators, beer pong, and yelling. Oh and this was in October. Absolute zoo.
What a pleasant weekend despite the near death experience getting there. Our group went to Little Pond amid the tail end of Hurricane Debby. We were rerouted to a different road due to closures for downed trees on power lines. We trekked through the mountain for what seemed like forever. The mountain road was narrow, rocky and had water coming downstream in some spots making the drive all the more challenging. Nevertheless we got to the campsite safely. When we arrived, there was no power at the main office, but the gentleman allowed us to go to our campsite and set up. He informed us to come to the office the following day when the rain storm had passed. Navigating the campsite was easy. Each site was decent in size. Enough to accommodate vehicles and tents. What we liked unanimously is that there is some distance between campsites allowing for privacy between the occupants. There was a table at each site along with a firepit for grilling and roasting. The bathrooms were well maintained and had a good supply of toilet paper. Lol. There was hot water on our second day there which allowed us to bathe comfortably in the shower rooms. We did so despite not having any light at the time. Other campers were respectful and friendly toward one another. All in all our experience was great. It was a great weekend to unplug and be with nature. It was also refreshing to see so many kids walking, hiking, biking, playing ball and away from the screens.
Great place to boondock, most sites are roomy, fire pit, water nearby but no hookups.
Almost want to keep this campground a secret place. Each campsite is not too close, so you feel a little more secluded than many campgrounds with decent facility. Since there’s lake, summer is fun but too many mosquitos. We prefer camping here in October with gorgeous foliage view with the lake reflection. The remote campsites by the lake are the best if you are well prepared though you cannot drive in.
A beautiful picturesque campground. One can only imagine how beautiful it is when the autumn colors sets in. This marvelous experience was almost ruined by the greeter at the front gate. She complains about our arrival, and was militant and rude and not accommodating. She needs to be trained better by camp host. Once you get over that obstacle you will discover this wondrous place. The lake in the middle is a great place to kayak or rowing. The prices were reasonable. When we went the wind was calm, creating almost mirror like reflection of the surrounding forest and mountains. The one mile hiking loop is around the lake, which also have other trails. The campground is extremely well kept. The showers and bathroom were meticulous cleaned by the staff(s). There is a store on the campground that offers wood and ice. There is kindle fire in side of each bag of wood. How ideal! The camp greeter's obscene attitude had us almost decided to leave if not because of the lack of cellular service, and unfamiliarity of the area. But this is a blessing in disguise. Perhaps because of her horrendous attitude, she gatekept people away and maybe that's why this place is so well kept.
Do not book this site if you are young and have a big group. Ranger on site is very strict about not parking 3 cars, more than 2 tent, come in before 9:00pm. They will deny your entry and not let you set up tent. And the ranger can hear your site have music even you don't have a speaker but your light is on after 10pm. So if you are not in your 50 year old and have a job that you have to drive there to site after work. i suggest you not book this site. site 25 26 28 29 waterfront are great and you have privacy its nice. but bathroom is moody and not really maintained like other DEC sites.
We have been coming here for a few years now, very relaxing and peaceful, very quiet at night and patrolled. Good hiking all around and bathrooms and kept clean!
great little campground on quiet lake. good spacing between sites. no electric sites and can get crowded on weekends
