Little Round Valley Campground Introduce

Little Round Valley Campground, located within California and accessible from the Deer Springs Trailhead, falls under the category of Campgrounds & RV Parks, specifically catering to hikers and backpackers. It serves as an overnight camping destination along the trail.

Based on customer reviews, the campground provides "adequate" campsites within a "gorgeous" meadow environment. A significant feature is the availability of "running water along the way and here in the meadow," which is particularly valuable for hikers needing to replenish their water supply. The reviews also mention the presence of outhouses, which are considered a preferable alternative to digging personal waste disposal holes.

The campground's environment is described as scenic, with a meadow setting. However, potential visitors should be aware of seasonal considerations. One review notes "OMG the flies in the out house! 😳" specifically mentioning a high concentration of flies, particularly during the summer months. Early morning is recommended as the best time to avoid the flies.

Key features and considerations include:

  • Accessible from Deer Springs Trailhead.
  • Adequate campsites within a meadow environment.
  • Running water available in the meadow and along the trail.
  • Outhouses provided.
  • Seasonal considerations: Potential for high fly concentration in outhouses during summer.
  • Best visitation time is early morning.

The campground is primarily designed for trailside camping and offers basic amenities to support hikers and backpackers. Prospective visitors should be prepared for a natural environment and plan accordingly based on the time of year.

Due to the limited address information, it is recommended to research Deer Springs Trailhead and the specific trail leading to Little Round Valley Campground for detailed directions and trail information. Hikers should also check for any current trail conditions or advisories before embarking on their trip.

Started at Deer Springs Trailhead. Camped overnight here. Campsites adequate. Running water along the way and here in the meadow (10-2024). Outhouses beat digging a hole.

Gorgeous campground. Plenty of ice cold flowing water for filtering as of our visit in June. OMG the flies in the out house! 😳. Best in the early morning.

Fantastic Sites, stayed at Thunder View...spectacular sunset. Primitive camp, pack it in, pack it out...no water (9-2016)...toilet is not worth entering. Spring water is available on Marion entry trails, but will take some work to pool and filter. Idyllwild side is dry.

Primitive campground, very clean sites. Gorgeous place to stay overnight. Water creek is still running 0.5mile down from Little round valley (Marion trail) .

Many campgrounds which are clean and flat. No water nearby though. The hike up to the peak is definitely challenging but worth it.
