Great campground! Not that easy to find, especially because a group of bikes were blocking the way so I drove past the entrance. Then once you're down in the campground the first turn on the right is a residence, second turn is the campground. Not many water spigots as the water by the first campsite is out of order and others are inside campsites so I felt weird going into their site to get water. Bathroom sinks inside have hot water, seems like there are showers too but they were closed when we just went in April 12. Easy walk to Rock City and drive to the summit. The food boxes are not waterproof, so be prepared to have sealed containers if it is going to rain. Also the one for site 8 the door broke off. Very easy to get here in my Tesla Cybertruck.

This campground provides the best playground possible for big and small kids. Many sites have their own rocks and climbing trees. Rock City is mere steps away and Artist's Point and Fossil Ridge are very easy to get to by foot. The trail to the Summit is well marked. I'd gladly give Live Oak Campground five stars if the bathroom areas were a bit better maintained. Can't wait to visit again.

Super easy to access by car. We read other reviews that said that there were aggressive raccoons. We didn't see any, but we did end up keeping all food in the car as a result. Quiet, though not secluded. Neighboring sites are probably 15 feet away. We got up at 7:30am, but if you want to sleep in probably good idea to bring ear plugs (bc of proximity to other campsites). No shower at this site but I brought a basin with me, walked down to a little meadow not far from our site and was able to wash my hair with relative privacy. Recommend driving to the summit and finding a trail on the way down. This park is full of gorgeous views. We downloaded a plant identifier app and it made our hikes really fun.

Good not great. Pros: Beautiful setting Well maintained The storage closet at each campsite is nice The fire stoves are awesome Hiking trails are well maintained with adequate signage Cons: Too many rules. Seriously, no alcohol? Can’t have a beer around the campfire after a long day of hiking Bathroom facilities are limited and not super clean The area to wash dishes leaves much to be desired. The yellow jacket wasps are crazy Overall it was a good time and I would recommend it. I’ll be back, but it’s not a raving 5 start review overall.

Mt Diablo is beautiful but our campsite 07 was infested with wasps. Not sure if it’s seasonal, but it was out of control. I know how to ignore them but my wife and kid stayed locked in the car until the sun went down
