Live oak is an absolute beauty while still being close to home. Authentic “out there” camping with spacious sites, wildlife, and friendly rangers. Highly recommend for a get away with the family.
Great close campground for the family. Just make sure you review all the rules. If you are looking for a place to party with your friends, this place is not for you. But if you are looking for a chill outdoor experience, this is a great place. Many shaded camp spots, clean and well maintained. Highly recommended for families or people looking for a close and peaceful camping experience.
We had a great spot with shade, however too close to neighbors with no camping etiquette. Kids kept running into our campsite with parents not saying anything. Water access was limited. Gravel roads, porta potties were every sites. Flush toilets up main trail. Found out hard way that no trails are wheelchair accessible. I am recovering from a broken ankle, so pretty limited to where I could go. The nature center was great and will be open all summer 9 am to 5 pm.
love this camp ground! Ronald Caspers Regional Park is far enough from civilization to see some serious stars but close enough to run and get pizza for dinner and coffee for breakfast. try and get a campsite along the usually dry river bed. 4 stars because they haven’t had water for the past 6 months. we camped here summer and winter 2021, and just visited today January 2022. Some equestrian group came through some months ago and emptied their reservoir and left nothing for everyone else. nature center has great info on the park and helpful informative staff. the playground and the nature walk are perfect for kids. woodpeckers are everywhere and we’ve seen red tailed hawks, barn owls and great horned owls. no pets allowed.
No dogs...no outside firewood... no alcohol, no fun. I went to camp and enjoy some of my taxes I have paid into the coffers of OC. I was due for some fun sun and a nice nature hike , but the fun police were on patrol. So I had to lay low like a criminal with my favorite after hike beer, whiskey and cigar. A very nice park and a great place for hiking and hugging trees...
