Campsites were nice and clean. Moderately good shade. Many trees. Good space for 32' Class C. Had to park car in overflow near the campsite. Restrooms were very dirty but had flushing toilets and working sinks. Near a beautiful creek and hiking trail. Good Verizon coverage, poor tmobile coverage. Definitely recommend.
I’ve been camping at Lodgepole since elementary school, and it has always been a highlight of my summers. The beauty of this National Park is breathtaking, and I was thrilled to finally share the experience with my friends on our girls’ trip. However, this particular stay was less enjoyable due to a persistent bee problem. As soon as we arrived and started setting up camp, we noticed a large number of bees around our site. Unfortunately, one of my friends was stung while we were unpacking. Throughout our three-day stay, the bees swarmed us whenever we cooked, making mealtime stressful. I’ve never encountered this issue on previous visits, and it didn’t seem to be affecting the surrounding campsites, so it may have been specific to our area. Our campsite was grouped with five others, and while our neighbors were considerate for the first two days, on the third day, the campers around us became a bit invasive, encroaching on our space. The bees made it difficult to fully enjoy the experience, and we even had to eat some of our meals in the car to avoid them. I’m not sure if this is a recent problem in the park, but it certainly impacted our trip. Despite the bee issue, the scenery was as stunning as ever. The night sky with stars, was simply magical, and my friends loved the time we spent away from the bees. While this trip wasn’t perfect, Lodgepole remains a beautiful spot, and I hope to return under better circumstances.
🐻Our campsite was quite limited in space, so we had to set up our small tent on the parking area. 🐻The toilet facilities were dark, old, and not very clean. 🐻However, the gate staff were very helpful and provided complete information about the campground, which was appreciated. 🐻I also enjoyed the educational activity provided by the ranger about bears. It was a great session, and I was lucky to attend the last one of the season
Fantastic location , but that’s it . As a campsite the plots are large and flat but the rest rooms are absolutely disgusting, semi derelict unwashed for months and there was no cleaning whatsoever during our stay . I was expect the pride of. America at a national park but the facilities were the worst I have seen after using campsites in over 22 countries ! How can there be no cleaning ? Watching children clean their teeth around a filthy derelict wash basin was upsetting Anyway if the management ever see this you should go and check you will be appalled However the location is amazing the trails are fantastic
We had a great time here but the sites and roads are tiny and narrow. We brought a small travel trailer and barely was able to park it in the site, there was no room for the car so we had to park it a ways away. There was room for a tent also but there was a lot of ash mixed in the dirt at the site so little ones get totally filthy but they have a good time. Lots of trees and boulders and things to see. Lots of trails starting from the camp and within a short drive. The bear boxes were big and in good condition, a big plus in bear country. The visitors center at the campground is worth a look. All in all we had a good time and would come back but probably with a tent trailer or overlander setup.
