Lone Fir Campground Introduce

Lone Fir Campground, categorized under Campgrounds & RV Parks, is located in Winthrop, WA 98862. It offers a camping experience close to Highway 20, providing access to scenic drives and outdoor recreational opportunities.

Based on customer reviews, Lone Fir Campground features:

  • Flat areas suitable for vehicles and tents at most sites.
  • One or two large pull-through sites designed for larger RVs (specifically sites 2 and 23).
  • Non-flushing toilets that are generally clean and well-maintained.
  • A quiet environment, despite its proximity to the highway.

However, please note the following regarding amenities and current status:

  • Historically, the campground provided running water, but it lacked threaded heads for hoses, causing potential difficulties in filling water tanks.
  • There is no recycling service available, which has resulted in increased waste in the dumpster area.
  • Signage is reportedly showing signs of wear, making it difficult to read, especially at night.
  • As of October 2024, a sign indicates the campground is closed due to unstable trees posing a risk in high winds.
  • Despite the closure sign, the campground is not physically blocked off, and the bathrooms remain open and clean.
  • As of October 2024, there is no running water.
  • People are still camping at the campground despite the closure sign.

Visitors should be aware of the campground's current closed status and the absence of running water before planning a trip. The campground's proximity to Highway 20 makes it a convenient stop for travelers, but potential campers should consider the lack of amenities and the reported safety concerns.

Stayed the night on the way to the gorge, beautiful drive East along HWY 20. Running water, but no threaded head for hoses could lead to difficulties filling up with water. One or two large pull through for the big rigs out there (site 2 and 23). No recycling, which leads to lots of cans and bottles on the dumpster. Signage, starting to show signs of wear…a little difficult to read when dark. Most sites have flat areas for vehicles or tents. Non-flushing toilets, but overall clean and well kept. Despite being close to the hwy, was a quiet night.

As of Oct 2024: arrived to the campground to find a sign stating it’s closed due to unstable trees that could fall in high winds. That being said, it is not blocked off and the bathrooms are opened and clean; plenty of people still camping there. No running water. Nice sites, stayed three nights!

Wonderful camp ground. First come basis, $12/per day site charge. The campground is small yet nice and not too crowded. Bring bug spray since at certain time of the day we noticed bugs to be a lot more them other times. Water and washroom facilities available and a campground host was available to answer any questions.

Very nice campground. Clean and quite a few spots. Multiple bathrooms. Campsite had a decent view of Silverstar mountain. Saw a western Tanager. There is a nice and easy hike right from the campground that was cool to check out.

What a great campground! Right off highway 20. The noise isn't bad from the traffic either. The Early Winters Creek is a great spot to cool off. Great hiking trail that's right at 3 miles to do the loop if you go to cutthroat Creek. Trail needs some work through. Plenty of other hiking trails and the Washington pass over look is just right up the road.
