We really enjoyed our stay here! The shower facilities were down, but we were only here two nights. The campsites are set up very well with a raised box for your tent and a nice picnic table. Someone came by every morning to clean the sites of people who had left!
This campground sits at the base of Long's Peak. The campsites don't have great views for the most part, however, once you set up camp, find the trail head and go up (make sure you bring good shoes, water, and snacks! Start early, because you'll be on it for hours!) The woods are pristine and the hike is about a 20% grade and Rocky. For those who can do the 6 mile hike they will see a glacier at the top. Waterfalls and beauty await you here!
The camp host here is absolutely amazing and super friendly! We found the last camping pad and it had a lot of water on it (it had just rained). He brought over several tools to help us get drain all the water. He was super knowledgeable about the campground and surrounding area.
We camped here for a night and had no problems. The campground host was polite and gave us the information about the campground. We took a hike to chasm lake and got some fantastic views of Longs peak. It was a bit expensive at $26 a night especially because the shower house was closed. I would stay here again if I needed to.
We have a access pass but didn’t get to use it much 👎 even during off season these parks are usually full!, I couldn’t drive anymore after 15+ hours had to sleep in the vehicle just outside the park ! The pass was almost useless for us a older disabled couple! Who just wanted to see what we couldn’t when younger and had to work! The parks that do take reservations are useless unless you plan months in advance that’s not how to see the country! I drove over 9000 miles in 4 weeks and used the pass 2 times but it was by chance and I had to wait for the rangers to see if something would open up! Guess if I do this again I will have to pay a premium for private camping it will cut into our time since being on disability we cannot afford what someone still able to work can.
