Longville Campground Introduce

Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Longville, Minnesota, Longville Campground offers a unique approach to lakeside living. For many Minnesotans, the idea of a long-term escape to a tranquil setting, with the comforts of home and the beauty of nature at their doorstep, is incredibly appealing. Longville Campground appears to cater specifically to this desire, providing a community-focused environment primarily for those seeking seasonal or extended stays with their recreational vehicles or trailers.

While traditional campgrounds often focus on nightly or weekly visitors, Longville Campground seems to emphasize a more established presence, allowing individuals and families to become part of a lakeside community for the duration of a season. This setup fosters a sense of camaraderie among long-term residents, creating a "home away from home" atmosphere for those who wish to fully immerse themselves in the relaxed pace of lake life. It's a place where lasting friendships are formed, and generations can enjoy the simple pleasures of Minnesota's great outdoors.

This article aims to provide a comprehensive overview of Longville Campground, based on available public information and customer insights. We'll explore its location, the services it offers, its key features, and how it fits into the local Minnesota context. Understanding the unique nature of this campground, particularly its focus on seasonal residents, is key to appreciating its role in the Longville community.

Location and Accessibility

Longville Campground is strategically situated at 1367 Co Rd 5, Longville, MN 56655, USA. This address places it within Cass County, a region renowned for its countless lakes and dense forests, making it a prime destination for outdoor enthusiasts in Minnesota. Longville itself is a charming town often considered the "Turtle Capital" of the world, offering local amenities, unique shops, and a friendly, small-town atmosphere.

The campground's location on County Road 5 provides relatively easy accessibility for vehicles, including larger RVs and trailers. County roads in Minnesota are generally well-maintained, ensuring a smooth journey to the campground. Being near the town of Longville means that campers have convenient access to groceries, gas, bait shops, and other essential services just a short drive away. This blend of natural seclusion and nearby conveniences makes it an attractive spot for those planning an extended stay.

A significant aspect of its location, as suggested by customer reviews, is its proximity to a body of water often referred to as "Austin Swamp." While the name "swamp" might suggest otherwise, this area appears to offer direct lake access, crucial for fishing, boating, and enjoying the water. For long-term campers, having easy and consistent access to the lake is a major draw, allowing them to fully engage in watersports and leisure activities throughout the season. The accessibility of the campground and its direct link to local waterways underscore its appeal as a seasonal lakeside haven.

Services Offered

Based on available information and customer insights, Longville Campground primarily caters to seasonal residents with trailers, offering a suite of services designed for extended stays.

  • Seasonal Trailer Sites: The core service of Longville Campground appears to be the provision of seasonal sites for recreational vehicles and trailers. This allows individuals and families to park their units for an entire season, often from spring through fall, eliminating the need to haul their RVs back and forth for shorter trips.

  • Long-Term Stays: The campground's business model seems centered around long-term occupancy, fostering a stable community of seasonal residents rather than transient visitors. This creates a more settled and friendly atmosphere among campers.

  • Access to Lake/Waterbody: A key service implied by customer reviews is access to the adjacent "Austin Swamp," which functions as a lake or significant waterbody suitable for fishing and potentially boating. This direct access to water is a significant draw for campers, particularly those with a passion for angling or water recreation.

  • Community Environment: While not a tangible "service," the campground appears to cultivate a strong sense of community among its seasonal residents. The long-term nature of stays encourages social interactions, shared experiences, and the formation of lasting friendships, making it more than just a place to park a trailer but a vibrant seasonal neighborhood.

It's important to note that specific amenities like hookups (water, electric, sewer) are typical for seasonal RV parks, although details are not explicitly provided in the reviews. Given the focus on trailers, it is reasonable to expect that such facilities would be in place to support long-term living.

Features / Highlights

  • Primarily Seasonal/Long-Term Community: The standout feature of Longville Campground is its strong emphasis on seasonal or long-term residents. This creates a stable, community-oriented environment where neighbors get to know each other, fostering a friendly and welcoming atmosphere reminiscent of a close-knit neighborhood during the warmer months.

  • Lake Access for Fishing and Recreation: Located by "Austin Swamp," the campground provides direct access to a water body known for fishing. This is a significant highlight for anglers and those who enjoy water-based activities like boating, allowing residents to easily pursue their favorite pastimes throughout their stay.

  • "Home Away From Home" Atmosphere: For many seasonal campers, this type of campground becomes a cherished second home. The ability to leave their trailer set up for the season, decorate their site, and build connections with fellow campers creates a comfortable and familiar retreat.

  • Proximity to Longville Town: The campground's location near Longville, MN, is a practical highlight. This means seasonal residents have convenient access to local shops, restaurants, bait stores, and other essential services, blending the peace of nature with the convenience of a charming small town.

It is important to acknowledge that some past customer feedback indicates potential issues with management and accessibility for non-seasonal visitors. While one positive review praises the current owner and manager as "very very good people," another set of reviews suggests a shift in policy from a more open, community-friendly approach to one that strictly prioritizes seasonal trailer residents, sometimes reportedly to the exclusion of casual visitors seeking lake access or to visit friends. This indicates that while the internal community of seasonal residents may be strong, external access might be limited. Future visitors, especially those not planning a seasonal stay, should clarify access policies directly with the management.

Conclusion: Why This Place Is Suitable for Locals

Longville Campground offers a distinct appeal that makes it particularly suitable for Minnesotans seeking a consistent and deeply integrated outdoor experience. For many locals, the dream of having a permanent or semi-permanent retreat "Up North" is a quintessential part of the Minnesota lifestyle. Longville Campground caters directly to this desire by providing a framework for seasonal living. Instead of packing and unpacking for every weekend trip, Minnesotans can establish a comfortable seasonal base, allowing for spontaneous getaways and prolonged immersion in nature.

It allows Minnesotans to maximize their time outdoors, minimize travel logistics, and truly settle into the rhythm of lake life throughout the warmer months. It represents a practical and desirable option for locals who envision their recreational vehicle or trailer as a gateway to extended relaxation and community in the heart of Minnesota's beautiful lake country.

Used to be a wonderful place years ago - growing up in Longville you could go there to fish & visit friends in the trailers. As a kid they would give you old fishing gear and bring you a snack or drink. Now the prick owner, runs you off and Says it is for people that have trailers only. So I just go back home and get my boat and pull up in it because he doesn't own the lake. That way I can say hi to my life long friends too. To prove this is not just a person making a bad comment - I've added two pictures of my brother and I as children, catching our very very first fish ever with our father in Austin Swamp. The waters there will always be special to us - my father might just buy they park and allow other people to visit and not be a prick like the rude, selfish, inconsiderate owner now... My dad owns many businesses in Longville and talks often about buying it and tearing it down to make a new city park to give back to the community. I hope he does and gets rid of the godless, selfish man there now that is rude to other people all because he owns the property and doesn't care if you are friends with people in the trailer park. Check out and like our two pictures catching our first fish ever and children there... It must have had a nice cool owner then, because we were welcome and made life long friends in many of the trailers. Some of them even have their friends come stay with us when they are in town.
