Look Rock Campground Introduce
Look Rock Campground is a hidden gem nestled in the rolling hills of Tallassee, TN, offering a unique blend of comfort and nature for outdoor enthusiasts. Located close to Look Rock Mountain, this campground provides easy access to some of the most popular hiking trails in the area, making it an ideal base camp for adventurers looking to explore the great outdoors.
The campground has recently undergone renovations, with newly paved sites that are fairly level and provide good privacy. Each site offers a mix of amenities, with some featuring water and electric hookups. While not all sites have these utilities, they are designed to cater to both RVers and tent campers who appreciate the convenience of modern camping while staying close to nature.
Look Rock Campground is known for its family-friendly atmosphere, welcoming guests of all ages to enjoy the great outdoors. The campground's serene environment and peaceful setting make it an ideal spot for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and reconnect with nature. Whether you're a seasoned camper or new to outdoor adventures, Look Rock Campground offers something for everyone.
One of the standout features of Look Rock Campground is its proximity to Look Rock Mountain, which offers breathtaking views and an array of hiking trails. However, visitors have noted that the campground itself is not directly adjacent to the most popular trailheads, requiring early starts to reach them before they become crowded. This has been both a pro and a con for some guests, depending on their priorities.
Customer feedback highlights the campground's newly renovated sites and the friendly staff as major positives. Many appreciate the paved, level sites that offer a comfortable camping experience without sacrificing the rugged charm of traditional camping. However, there have been concerns raised about the campground's policies regarding RV rentals. One customer shared their experience with renting an RV through a service only to find out upon arrival that Look Rock Campground does not allow such rentals and has specific rules in place to ensure a kid-friendly environment.
While this policy may seem restrictive, it is designed to protect the safety and well-being of all guests. The campground emphasizes the importance of responsible camping and has implemented measures to prevent issues like those mentioned by previous renters. It's always recommended to confirm policies directly with the campground before planning your visit to avoid any misunderstandings.
Overall, Look Rock Campground is a fantastic choice for anyone looking to experience the natural beauty of Tennessee while enjoying modern camping amenities. Whether you're hiking the trails of Look Rock Mountain or simply relaxing under the stars, this campground offers a welcoming retreat that combines convenience with the great outdoors.

Customer Reviews
The campground is newly renovated. Sites are paved, fairly level and provide good privacy. We stayed in a site with water and electric but not all site have these. Only downside is that the CG is fairly far from popular hiking trails. We had to rise at 5AM to get to trailheads before they were completely full.
My 1 star rating is not because I stayed there. It's because I rented my camper to an older couple that wanted to vacation with their kids and grandchildren. Before departing with my 10k pound camper. I went on their website and pulled their physical address. I inputted into my truck. My GPS took me up a Happy Hollow Rd with 3 huge switchbacks and an elevation of 10 to 12%. After arriving at the physical address. No campground. So I called the office for directions and she said are you delivering a camper? Yes. We don't allow that here. We only rent slots to owners that will remain with the unit. She said in case of fire etc... When I continued to question this. Granted I am blocking traffic because she won't give me directions. She said we have had sex traffickers use rental services and we won't to keep this a kid friendly campground. I did my best to validate my guest. But she still said no entry. So I made a wrong turn. Then I tried to turn around on a back road. Got stuck. I couldn't turn around. Then I had to drive my camper down a dangerous & muddy road to get back to main road. I felt like if she would have given me directions and then told me when I arrived. I wouldn't have had these problems. So beware. This campground doesn't allow RV Share or Outdoorsy RV rentals & don't put your camper up Happy Hollow. It's not safe, and could cause damage to your transmission.
Great place to camp. Disregard all the negative reviews it's just from people complaining about how they failed to research the route they would be pulling there 40' travel trailer up the wrong road. That's on them not the campground.
10-14-24 We live local. Just drove there to check it out for a future visit. It is way far away from things to do. Seemed nice and quiet today.
The campground is newly reopened, the road is nicely paved, a few sites have electricity but most don't. There's a dump station for RVs, and bathrooms but no showers. Don't expect your parking space to be level, expect to use blocks for your RV or trailer. There's the sound of motorcycles enjoying the tight twisty road to get here, but otherwise it's pure nature, with turkeys wandering around and a hiking trail to the tower.
The campgrounds are nice, bathrooms functional for the most part. Our site had been washed out at one time, the picture didn't match the site. As others have mentioned the sites are close to each other, you will know your neighbor. The low rating is because of the close proximity to the lawless Foothill Raceway(Parkway). Loud motorcycles ruined the visit. Starts at 8:00 am till 10:00 pm. I can't recommend this campground until the Park Service gets the noise under control.
Very narrow site could barely step out of camper without taking a fall. Road noise from Foothills parkway was horrible over the weekend. Motorcycles traveling thru on way to tail of the dragon all day till sunset. Other then that it was nice. Would go again but not over a weekend, n a better site.
