The sandy beach on the lake is beautiful & perfect for the family to enjoy a day at the lake. We brought in 6 campers & took a group spot #71. It was a dry camp out but we loved it. No phone service, no wifi, no running water or electricity just out in the good Ole out doors enjoying our time. We have gone 2 years in a row & just booked our third year. The dunes are just a 20 min drive way. We as a group of 22 have really enjoyed this place.

A delightful little place set in a beautiful location just a few miles inland from Reedsport. Loon lake was calm and tranquil and the cute little cozy cabin we stayed in was well worth the slow winding drive in. Stunning scenery as you cruise by a creek that follows you most of the way to the lake itself from the Umpqua river. If you call it a negative, there is non existent cell service in the area, although the park does offer a limited wi-fi for a small charge per day. If you want an excuse to get away from it and be out of contact, well this is the place for you!

As others have said, Loon Lake itself is beautiful, and the office staff really do try to be helpful and accommodating. But we were sorely disappointed and won't be back. We chose this location because it offered what our party of 13 needed, a hotel, tent and RV space for our group of 4 families. However, the RV lot was a half mile from our tent sites! Family members who were tent camping were given tent sites that one of the staff members said was "the worst site on the property, I don't know why they continue to rent it out" and one party had a hotel room. The tent sites were full of bumps and holes with no practical place to pitch a tent. When we asked if we could move, one thoughtful staff member moved us to a group site. The tent sites have no bathrooms, no sinks, and no showers, only port-a-potties. We had one port-a-potty between our party and another group, right by our picnic table, and it got really smelly by the 4th day. Our group used the bathroom from the family who rented a hotel which was far better than the smelly port-a-potty, but even it was in poor condition. Their porch dividing wall leaning over. The RV sites had flush toilets and a couple showers that worked. The others were out of order and lines formed for using the women's showers. The boat launch is located down by the RV sites and has room for only 1 boat to go out at a time, and it was broken with rotten ramp boards. It was obvious to us, right away, that they don't reinvest any funds back into the property for maintenance and repair. Signs were broken and hanging on concrete blocks, old dilapidated boat trailers, and jet skis line the front parking lot. After 5 pm. on weekdays and 7pm weekends, there is no one around for help or to monitor noise. No camp host, crowd noise went on well past midnight. On weekdays, there were log trucks and dump trucks on the road just next to our tent starting at 2:30 AM. We were so thankful for the BLM day use area just a few short miles down the road for launching our boat and to spend the day playing on the beach. It was well attended by staff and had a safe swimming area.

Loon Lake itself is great, and the staff is always helpful and friendly. The yurts are good, clean and a great option for those who don’t want to tent camp. They do not have internal bathrooms you will need to bring stuff for portapotties, and they do not have laundry options. That is expected with tent camping, but some haven’t used yurts before. The rental house needs some upkeep, namely the deck needs to be replaced and the dock electricity outlet is broken so you’ll want extension chords. There also aren’t laundry on site in the house, so be prepared for that. It does have wifi and great showers, the house otherwise has great amenities, private dock, and is in a fantastic location. The lake is a fantastic place to vacation with family, to bring a boat, go to the little sand beach, camp, and just get away from everything. There’s no service, which means you really are just nice and secluded.

So far, it was a good experience. I have a big family and we always go on family camp in Washington where we reside, I found this similar cabbing campground and decided to give it a try going with my parents to investigate if all of my family should visit latter, even though it's six hours of driving from our hometown. There are some pros and cons I have highlighted for myself. Pros: - gorgeous location, beautiful lake, mountains, and nature - nice service, we didn't really have had any special requests or concerns - cleaned cabin, enough space, towels, soap, dish soap, shower accessories - multiple types of rentals - cabins, yurts, smaller cabins, big family cabin, RV spaces, all have their own fireplace, table and bench, and grill - very close to the lake, one minute walk to cross the road - there is enough of large and small dishes and glasses, a lots of grill supplies, utensils, coffee machine, toaster, spacious fridge, and microwave - Heating - we booked for the mid-May which is still kind of chill this year, it was pretty cold at night and sometimes during the day, but there is a heating system that saved us - Pets allowed for additional fee Cones: - not much to do - besides fishing dock and boat rental, there is no kids playground or hiking trails, swimming is possible but only for good weather which we didn't have since it's the beginning of the season. There are some hiking trails around but those are quite abandoned and mostly closed. - have to pay for wi-fi separately - when arrived, we had to go online by the special link that pops up on your phone when you try to connect to Wi-Fi and have to set up an account, then enter so much information, then pay separately after paying for cabin rental (1 day - about 3$, 3 days - about 5$, and 7 days around 10$): Oh yes, if you have multiple devises you will need to pay for all of them separately, it's not like you pay for one connection to all of the devises you have, and yes I did tried my best to make it work for both my phone and tablet. - we rented cabin which comes with some utensils and cookware, but unfortunately there was very little cookware to use, just few small pots, one small skillet, and a few salad dishes, only two mugs for a 4-people cabin; no cutting boards, only few knives. I am assuming people use take-out, cooking everything off the grill, or bring staff themselves. Absolutely fine for a few days, but if camping for a week or so, I'd bring own supplies. - If need to go to the store, it's a bit of a driving back and forth since the closest one in about 30min away, the office store doesn't have much since there is not many people booking yet
