I loved it! Went in November, so this is a kind of late review, but my friend and I had a really good time. If we were better equipped for hiking, we would've gone on a few trails. The views were really pretty, and the park rangers were really really nice, especially since it was our first time ever going to a state park. The museum in the visitor center was small but cool and educational. I really enjoyed our brief time there.
Lory State Park is a great because it has many options for outdoor activities from hiking, to mountain biking, and water activities. The hike to Arthur’s Rock is pretty easy if you’re from here. For a visitor, I’d say it’s moderate. The round trip is about 3.8 miles with about 1,000 feet of elevation gain. The trail is well-maintained. The view from the top is worth it. Tip: explore the area to the right of the point where you reach the top. The view is more expansive and no one else was there.
Great park North of Fort Collins, near Horsetooth Reservoir. Many options for hikes, bikes and horse riding, adapted to anyone, most of them with a reasonable ~2 miles distance. The view from the upper summits is breathtaking. Wildlife is also quite present and easily seen
Many options for all levels of hiker. Beautiful panoramic views of the foothills and Fort Collins. A totally tubular spot for any and all.
I did an overnight backpack trip with my 7 year old. Many don't realize Lory had 6 reservable sites. I love the accessibility for a quick getaway. Beautiful views and decent weather. No water on top - bring your own
