Beautiful secluded little lake with many wonderful dispersed campsites. We loved waking up in nature, surrounded by wildlife. Worth the drive up there. Great place to take your ATV as well. Many trails to be explored.
Went here for a hike. I didn't actually stay the night. The campground does not have any restrooms or other facilities as it is too remote. The area is very scenic and great for the low intensity hiker. Be sure to bring bug spray as the mosquitoes are persistent and numerous. Also, be sure you have a vehicle that can handle the dirt road leading to the campground.
Edit 2022: Sadly people have been dumping up there and I had to bring a few loads of trash down. Please always leave any campsite better than you found it. Rangers posted a sign up saying they'd shut down this area to the public if they keep dumping.... changed to 3 star but I'll update in a few months after this season when I see how people have treated it. It was very clean but doesn't have any real facilities (no water other than a lake and no restrooms). I always leave the place cleaner than I left and it seems others go the extra mile to keep it nice. The trail up has a lot of pot holes so take your time driving. Overall an amazing experience and we can't wait to go again!
It gets a five star if you like rough camping in it's truest sense. There are no facilities of any kind but many within 20-30 min drive. There are about 6-10 campsites accessible from the fire road with an average vehicle and another 5-6 only accessible by 4 wheel drive, if you are a confident four-wheeler with good ground clearance, my Montereo bottomed out a couple times getting to our site but nothing it couldn't handle. Great place to go but keep the little ones close as a lot of campers go there to do a lot of shooting. We had great luck hunting mushrooms on the east side of the lake. Morels in May.
Nice lakeside spots with a well-maintained gravel road. Trails around the lake with plenty of fishing spots. Excellent cellular service via T-Mobile. Please pack out your garbage!
It would get 5 stars if people wouldnt leave so much trash around Its a beautiful Lake and area
One of the best place to camp, fish and hike
