Customer Reviews
Having stayed in several different places around Estes, I feel qualified to leave an objective review. I've read through the reviews left by others, and while many of the complaints have some merit, I think it is important to understand context. "The owner was rude" - well, maybe some people are just accustomed to having the hotel staff cater to their every whim with a smile. The owner has been doing this for a very long time and while on the outset she may appear rude, the more I interacted with her you start to see her softer side. She has probably dealt with bad customers for years - and it's her place so of course she is sensitive to how it is being treated. "The septic system/thin toilet paper" - it's not the Mariott. It's a cabin in the mountains. Get a place in town if you can't deal with the facts. "It's old/dated" - Yes. It's old. That's part of the charm. Again - go get a hotel in town if you want something new and shiny. "Not kid friendly" - nobody wants to go on vacation at a peaceful riverside cabin to listen to YOUR kids playing. Too many parents fail to consider others. It's not a sanctuary, but it's not Circus Circus either. "The wifi is slow" - put down the electronics and read a book or connect with your family. It's a cabin in the mountains, with a river. We stayed in cabin 17 with the deck actually sticking out over the river - just before 4th of July 2024. We watched fish in the river, humming birds, birds catching bugs, bats. We very much enjoyed our stay - probably because it was mostly empty during our short stay. I like staying on the Big Thompson rather than Fall River, or in town. It's quiet, peaceful, and the sound of the river is relaxing. We washed our dishes before we used them - just in case - and also when we left. We try to leave a place cleaner or better than it was when we arrived. The place was clean, the bed was comfortable enough, and if you understand this is not like staying at the Ritz Carlton, then you will probably be just fine.
If you’re visiting Estes Park/RMNP do yourself a favor and stay here. The family has been here for over 40 years and when you check in you feel like you joined it. We stayed in cabin 15 which has a deck right on the river where we ate an unforgettable dinner. With the sound of the river in the background and incredible views this place can’t be beat. Will be back!!
This is the best place to stay when visiting the Estes Park area. The location and the views are amazing. The clean cozy cottages are run by Beverly and her family. The huge decks with picnic tables and lounge chairs are right on the big Thompson River. So beautiful and relaxing. I will definitely return here!
Stayed 2 times over the summer, loved it so much the first time I went with friends I decided to bring my family back 2 weeks later. The people that own it are great, the rooms are clean and for the price extremely reasonable. As far as internet goes......... it's almost nonexistent, I would highly suggest ditching century link and getting T-mobile home internet. I brought mine with and we could get internet on it from the front office to cabin 9. 2 of these routers would cover the entire area with guest codes for each side and we had over 20 devices connected and never dropped service, just a suggestion. I ran a 24 inch roku tv the whole time we were there both times that I brought and it worked flawlessly. With that said this will be a vacation destination for me, my family and friends moving forward. Thanks for the memories
I would 100% recommend the Loveland Hight Cottages! Beverly and her family are so incredibly kind and they treat you like family! If there was anything that we needed they were more than happy to make sure we had it. My family stayed there for several days. The cabins were clean and cozy. It had all of the amenities that I would need. The view was amazing and to able to see the wildlife up close was an amazing experience. Being right on the river was absolutely beautiful and so relaxing. The beds are super comfortable and in my opinion, they have the best pillows. I would recommend for anyone to stay there. We will definitely go back there to stay.
