Really well kept campground, nice campsites that offer good privacy. Direct access to Hermosa Creek trail. Great place to camp with the family and do some riding.
Best camping I've done in a long time, so peaceful!!! The camp host is the best!!!! So friendly, caring, and very helpful!!! Great hiking/mountain biking area!!!!
I did not camp here, but I did enjoy a handful of miles on the trail. There's something unbelievably amazing about hiking through a Grove of mature ponderosa pines. Even though a fire went through a number of years ago, there was still Stark and rugged beauty in the landscape. The charred remains of the fire added a reminder that life has a cycle. It's important to note, that the ponderosa pine only germinates (its seeds) after a forest fire. If there is no fire, then the forest will eventually die, it will not regenerate unless there is a fire. The unbelievable amount of tree regeneration was stunning. The deciduous oaks, and the new pine growth were evident, this is truly a healthy forest, and it is wonderful that the fire came through to begin the cycle of forest life once again.
Lovely, forested spot just 30 minutes from Durango. Friendly and helpful camp host, private sites with picnic tables and fire rings, spotlessly clean, odor-free vault toilets, and consistently strong cellular coverage with Verizon. Would absolutely stay here again.
The camp host this year is a hoot. Very friendly old school hippie. Enjoy visiting with her.
