Great place to camp, but there was no water available this year. It kind of made me scared a little bit, how are we supposed to put out the fire in the fire pit? It's kind of a walk to the water at the lake. And it still costs the same, and I never noticed a ranger come by, to ask about the water either. Good thing we had water in the ice chest.. FYI, bring plenty of water.
No running water for the price we paid to camp. But we did enjoy our stay for 5 days just be warned there's no shady spots. This lake is just minutes from the camp
Family had a great time. Even with no running water at the moment. Campspots were small, but we made it work. With the lake levels being so high, its GREAT! Don't think we would've stayed had the lake been low
The Ranger recommended this camp area, and we stayed there a night in mid-October, 2013. He said it had a view of the lake, but it doesn't (maybe the camp area up the hill?). There are 10 or so sites, and interestingly, many sites use pavers in addition to concrete drives. Also nice sized fire rings, many with built-in grills. We were the only ones there at this time of year, but we enjoyed it. One can drive several miles further on the road to eventually get to the marina - we stopped at the overlook parking area, but the road continues down. The water level was so low, that there was a peek-a-boo look of water. This road goes around the camp area about 30' above on the surrounding hill. There is a surprising amount of traffic heading to/from the marina. One hears vehicles approaching from afar, and it takes a minute or so for the vehicle noise to end. The area seems clean, including the pit toilets. Water is plentiful.
Very loud at night with parties and cars burning out. So if you like quite nights or going to bed before 2am, it's not for you. The water is very low, but warm, it has rocks, glass, and nails everywhere by the water. The campsite and workers are lovely and the restrooms are clean.
