The roads to the Lower Lava Mountain Trailhead were in good condition and there was plenty of decent dispersed camping near the trailhead. The actual trail had several downed trees. Steep trail but the sweeping vista views are worth it! Stop at the Y-Stop in Prairie for a meal after your hike.
It's a good uphill hike. Wouldn't recommend for those out of shape or with special needs. There is not a restroom or potable water. Plan ahead and/or bring your own supplies.
