Lower Lehman Creek Campground Introduce
Lower Lehman Creek Campground is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the Great Basin area of Nevada. Located at an elevation above the small community of Baker, this campground offers a peaceful retreat from the desert heat, with comfortable nighttime temperatures and a scenic environment. The campground features paved roads and campsites scattered among trees, providing shade and privacy. Whether you're pitching a tent or parking an RV, Lower Lehman Creek has options for everyone, including pull-through and back-in sites.
One of the standout features of this campground is its proximity to Lehman Caves and the visitor/ranger station, where you can enjoy ranger-led programs and cave tours. The campground is also close to Upper Lehman Creek Campground and Wheeler Peak Campground, though the latter is more suited for tent camping due to its high elevation and tight spaces. While Lower Lehman Creek Campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis, its remote location ensures a tranquil experience for those who secure a spot.
Although the campground lacks shower facilities, it offers clean vault toilets and centralized drinking water. The area is known for its stunning views, protection from the wind, and spacious sites equipped with tables and fire rings. Surrounded by Juniper, Pinion Pine, and Aspen trees, the campground is especially breathtaking in early fall. For those traveling with RVs or trailers, Baker, Nevada, provides a dump station and limited supplies, though it’s advisable to come prepared for the remote setting.
Customer feedback highlights the campground’s beauty and cleanliness, with many visitors praising the well-maintained pit toilets, spacious sites, and easy access for trailers and large vans. The peaceful atmosphere and proximity to Lehman Caves make it a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts. While the remote location means limited amenities, it also ensures a true escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Lower Lehman Creek Campground is an oasis in the desert, offering a unique and memorable camping experience.

Customer Reviews
Lower Lehman Creek Campground is a small, very nice campground, in a rather remote area of Nevada. In the Great Basin area. At elevation above the real small community of Baker Nevada. Paved road and campsites scattered in an area of trees. Some sites are pull through. Others back in. Tents to RVs. Enough trees to provide some shade and privacy from other campsites. High enough in elevation to have comfortable night time temps In otherwise desert heat. Vault toilets that are kept clean. No shower facilities. Centralized drinking water that you can fill containers and carry. A long drive from any town of size. But what isn’t in rural Nevada? Depending on how high up you camp, this area can get you out of the summer heat. On the other hand, winter comes early and stays late at higher elevations. It is an oasis in the desert. But you better be prepared for remote camping without lots of amenities. With first come first served, and such an out of the way spot, it is hard to depend on getting a campsite. If you don’t, it is a long way to anything else as a backup. For this single reason I can’t rate my review higher. Lehman Creek runs through the campground area. Lehman Caves is just down the road, as is the visitor/ranger station. Some very interesting ranger lead programs and cave tours. A must do if you have the time. There is another campground just above lower Lehman. [Upper Lehman Creek]. Another with RV/Trailer sites. Both Lower and Upper Lehman Creek Campgrounds fill up fast on a first come, first served basis. There is a third campground [Wheeler Peak Campground] way up the mountain at about 10,000 ft. Don't attempt to take RVs or Trailers to the 10,000 ft campgrounds. The roads in the campground are one way, tight, and the sites are very small. You might squeeze in something like a small tear drop. But those sites are often occupied early. This campground is more for tent camping out of your car. The individual sites parking areas {Wheeler] are often too small and too short to accommodate a small vehicle and small trailer even if you attempt to detach and park side by side. In Baker Nevada, a few miles away from Lower Lehman, there is a dump station at the gas pumps on the east end of town. The gas pumps almost fake you out, making you think they are not in business. A few pumps in a gravel pull off. No building, no workers. Credit card only. Baker has a couple small restaurants and one small convenience store. Limited hours and limited supplies. They often run out of ice....so don't wait to buy until you are completely out.
Beautiful veiws and protected from the wind. Open in winter, but the water is off (you can fill up and Visitor Center). Pit toilets are in great condition. The sites have tables and fire rings, and are very spacious. There is Juniper and Pinion Pine, and of course Aspen (so early fall is probably amazing). Many sites have drive-thru loops, so pulling a trailer or large van is easy.
Great campground. Lots of people who book don't cancel their reservations when they find out the water is shut off early October so there were a lot of open sites that people could have. We reserved our spot a month ago with tickets to the cave. The kids loved it. We will be coming back with a better idea of the best campsites.
Ery pretty campground with some sited along a stream. Some pull through spaces. 11 sites and usually reservation only unless you get lucky. Water turned off. Clean vault toilets.
Beautiful campground. First come first serve, you pay at the entrance of the campground putting cash in a box. Ranger do come by and check that you paid.
