Promotional Information:

Lucerne Campground in Manila, UT, offers lakeside camping with cabin rentals, wildlife sightings, and marina access. While scenic, it has some infrastructure limitations and varying staff interactions. We stayed in a "cabin" that was more like an apartment which met our needs well. I'm including a picture of our check-in/check-out sheet so anyone can see the inventory of what is included when you rent one since that information isn't available online. The Other thing I would note for the "cabin" is the coffee pot doesn't have filters included. We improvised, but I would recommend bringing Cone #4 filters. We had family staying in Loop D. It was quite the walk to go between sites - the campground is very large! That was really a good thing because our group definitely had plenty of space even being surrounded by neighbors. The view of the lake was amazing from the Loop camping area. We were surrounded by wildlife with regular sightings of hawks and other birds, pronghorn herds, and even a bobcat! Nearby amenities that we enjoyed were the Marina (someone brought a boat), the Marina store which had some forgotten essentials available for purchase, and the swim beach just outside of the campground. It all made for a very fun trip. The staff were generally very friendly and helpful with one exception. One family member who was camping with their dogs came to drop something off at our cabin. As she came inside, her partner was outside with the dogs (I made it clear no dogs were allowed inside). As they were waiting OUTside in the grassy area, one of the male staff members came to threaten them that I'll lose my deposit for the apartment. The family pointed out the dogs were not in the apartment and were in fact waiting outside. I don't know how the interaction resolved but it was apparently upsetting for the family member with dogs. I didn't lose my deposit since the dogs never did come inside. All of my own interactions with staff were very helpful and pleasant. Wheelchair accessibility: The apartment had one small step to get inside. There were no curb cutouts by the apartments but our party member was able to wheel up a grassy incline to get up on the sidewalk. The backdoor was level with the back sidewalk but that entry was pretty narrow. Around the campground the paths were paved and it was easy enough to navigate. We were able to make it work for our needs and we will definitely be going back. The location can't be beat (proximity to the water), but disappointed in how many bathrooms were out of order. The drinkable water was only in one location far away from the campsites. Very little shade- so bring your own. Bathrooms were kept clean. There was no hand soap- not sure if that was intentional but bring your own in case. The office had limited hours.

Loved it here. The views of the gorge are amazing. The sites are spacious, and having electric in the desert is nice. Perfect for water activities. Thunderstorms seem to roll in each afternoon so plan accordingly. Great fill station for water as you enter and also dump station that cost $10 when you leave.

I stay here quite frequently each year, with my family and usually have no complaints. This year has been poor at best. The bathrooms are probably the biggest issue. Toilet paper is hit and miss, learned my lesson on this and always pack my own. We recently stayed in Loop E, the restrooms were “out of order” and so we had to walk to a different loop, not a big deal but then some of the stalls were closed in the closest loop. The 2 times we’ve stayed this year, upon check in, I have encounter the human called Dennis. Probably one of the rudest, most condescending persons I’ve ever had to deal with. If you don’t like people, maybe don’t work with the public. Anyway, the views are beautiful, the antelope are awesome to see. Can’t give 5 stars due to the bathrooms and Dennis.

We’ve enjoyed our stay here. Lucerne campground is on “west” side where boating & power water sports rule. Dutch John is better if you intend to river fish- here is lake/trolling fishing. LOVE the ice guys & their campsite delivery of ice cream & ice. There is only one men’s toilet in the bathhouse near us as the other one is broken- needs to be fixed pronto considering the use it gets. Same for showers- one door is not functional & 1 shower has no temperature control- fix it! Gophers need control. Not all sites have wind breaks & they should. We didn’t have reservations and check in to find a spot was smooth.
