Before I get any further, the red squirrels are a nightmare! We are always prepared for bears, but these squirrels are another story! They ate through a storage container in less than 6 hours and messed with everything inside. Anything that smells like food they are going to mess with! Now, for the rest of my review. We had site 114 and it was very big and on the water. Sites 113 and 115 are also decent size. All 3 of these have water access points. From 114 you can see the beach and a pretty view of the water and park area. The beach is pretty nice for a pond. The bathrooms are cleaned daily. Remember to bring cash if you have children because an ice cream truck comes through the camp ground. Overall, one of the best state campgrounds I have been to.

Great beginner campground. This campground had the best facilities by far compared to any other DEC campground. The bathrooms were very clean and modern. There were no bugs and the showers were separated in a different room from the toilets. I didn’t use them, but it appears there are several recreational activities to choose from. The staff were also kind and helpful. The only downside is that this campground does not offer much privacy as many of the other DEC campgrounds do. The majority of the sites are close in proximity to each other with little to no trees or bushes to separate them.

Easy access and plenty of places to park. Very few people and very peaceful on the west track beyond Norrisville Rd. Trails are mostly jeep/SxS roads . Some trash in a couple of locations off of trails.

We stayed at site 35 for three days, on a Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. We like to arrive to camp when the weekend crowds are leaving, because mid week most of these State Parks are fairly empty and quiet. We had the entire peninsula to ourselves, so it was idyllic. (sites 26-35 are considered the peninsula, and all are right on the water). Fishing is as easy as 15 steps from your tent/trailer down to waters edge, but the slope at sites 33, 34, and 35 are steep, 35 being the steepest. You could launch canoes, kayaks, or paddleboards right at your site, but the bottom is soft and a little mucky, so bring water shoes. Watch for snapping turtles, muscles, leaches, and blue/green algae blooms. The bathroom at the end of this loop were very clean! The staff were pleasant and sociable. The park was, "kinda", clean...ish. Sorta. No toilet paper blooms like you find along trails in the ADKs, but cig butts, bottle caps, and melted/burned trash in the fire pits. We always spend 15 or 20 minutes when we get to a site policing it up and scooping the fire pit, but you have to expect that when camping in a campground. Site 35, contrary to what the Reserve America map shows, is the last site right ON the water, with a wooded hill next to it. It isn't level, so plan to use leveling legs or putting one tire on a block. We have a tiny, lightweight Aspen Classic motorcycle popup tent camper, so it was easy for us. Bigger trailers might want to opted for sites 24-33 or so, as they are more level. It was peaceful, quiet, and money well spent.

Nice campground. Stayed at site 307 and had plenty of room between campsites. Site had no electricity. The sites with electric seemed to be closer together. Doesn’t seem like they enforce the generator hours. On e camper had their generator going until 11:30pm.
