Generally pretty good, even though it wasn't as nice as we saw it in the pictures. I like that it has water, restrooms and showers. But there are a LOT of annoying wasps in the afternoon and in the morning, especially when we're cooking. We took a short hike to the nearby Rock Pool. It was quite easy and nice. We were able to play in the pool at the end of the trail. There were also people jumping into the lake. But it was not that crowded on a weekday.
GREAT PLACE TO BE! We go camping at least once a month. So I tend me be pretty strict on the quality of site. I mean "quality" as in how well it is controlled, not so much of pit toilet or not. Trust me, I'd rather go to a clean pit toilet than terribly kept "modern" toilet. This place was quite impressive. First of all, weather was so incredibly good. and got Site 59, which had an amazing amenity of "children can play under a HUGE tree. You don't see this quite often in camping sites that is designated just for you. I liked that firepit was high-raised so that I can cook while standing up. But because it is high-raised, it could be considered dangerous for little kids as they could accidentally touch the fire pit. But it is double-barrelled, so it is considered safe. Bathroom was clean and well kept. it's a HUGE plus for me. Also, there is a little creek along the way to the Rock Pool. maybe 0.5 mile away? If you have little kids and can't walk more than a mile or so, this place is a great place to have fun! Will definitely return again.
$45/ night is worth it! Camp in what feels like the middle of no where and really, just above Malibu! Escape the concrete jungle & fall asleep to the sound of owls, frogs, crickets & coyotes. Two big loops of camping spaces clustered together with shared concrete bathrooms in the middle of each loop. Felt safe & people of all ages filled less than 10 of the spaces in January. Didn't do any of the hiking, I did check out the nearby Hindu Temple!
Fun campsite all ages, lots of nature trees giving great shade and squirrels ,rabbits birds. Wonderful trails to hike, and a creek! There is a bike program to take you and your group on trails they have and will bring everything needed...helmet bikes experience 😀 $free... scan it and book it ahead of time!
We stayed at the camp ground farthest away from the park entrance. Bring your own toilet paper and hand soap. They only fill the toilet paper in the morning and it's usually gone by 7pm. You'd think for $45/night they'd refill mid day. We had a water faucet between both our camp sites, so it was convenient for us to clean our dishes and wash our hands. We connected our own hose also. Bring a head lamp or flashlight when you go to the bathroom. A woman went to the bathroom without one and couldn't find her tent in the middle of the night and I helped her go to her camp site. There are fire pits but you have to see the fire restrictions for the day. They had a sign on what level it was and what's permitted for each level.
