Wonderful staff, great larger campsites, and clean restrooms. Loads of birds, 2 manatees, and an alligator siting-across the water.
Serious tick issue. Didn't see Sasquatch like a reviewer said. Bathroom lights don't always come on at night. Tons of trees down, including right in sites and many falling/uprooted over sidewalk. Our site was all dark dirt 32 Magloop1 , so be prepared for seriously dirty feet! No homeless camps are taking over like others said in reviews. Super clean bathrooms. Had deer and Arnold the Armadillo visit every day while there. Overall, it was ok, but the ticks and trees coming down gave it only 2 out of 5 stars. Springs are awesome to swim in. I did several video reviews on YouTube for this campground while we were there this whole week.
Absolutely loved this place! We go camping several times a year and so far this is the best! The sites were very nice, we encountered a lot of different wildlife, the springs were amazing! Although the park was closed due to being at capacity, not once did it feel overcrowded. The rangers were all nice and kept the camp grounds well maintained. This will certainly be a place I will frequent!
We enjoyed our time here. Cool spot to see birds and the manatees. If you want to get up close and personal, swimming is a great option. They swim right by you. One of our group wanted to swim with them. He got waste deep in the water when the ranger told him he couldn't go towards them. He can touch them if they swim towards him but he can't go to them. She waited till he was in the water before telling him that. Mind you, he wasn't wearing swim trucks. Would have been a cool experience. Really cool place, though.
Nice State Park with comfortable trailer sites. We didn't swim and didn't see any Manatees in the Spring, but we walked the trail and it was very pleasant. Very scanty wifi is my only negative.
