Our favorite campsite near and in this case inside Lassen National Park. The cabins are always clean, well maintained and exactly what I would build if I selected a design. New picnic tables sized for the different capacity cabins. Fire pit in a safe and useful place. There are a few hiking trails near the cabins for different abilities. You can also rent kayaks, SUP and have fun on Manzanita Lake. The reservation system worked very well and the access to the park and cabins is convenient.
6/25/24 to 6/27/24 Bring a mattress pad or two. Showers and Laundry are currently unavailable in the park. There are some 15 miles away. The cabins are very basic. Cabin 15 has a porch with two chairs and a little table, inside a table and chairs and a bed. Outside a fire pit, picnic table and bear box. If you like firm beds that are harder than the ground, it's perfect. The pilot light on the heater causes the room to heat up overnight. The vault toilets were always extremely low on toilet paper or out. Glad it was a beautiful weekend and the whole park was open.
The cabins here are overrated. The sites and roads are VERY dusty because the cabins have no paved roads yet the tent sites do. You'll find your vehicle and equipment covered in dust after only a day or two so keep the cabin doors closed. The cabins have no restroom inside. You'll have to walk to the nearest one which is a vault toilet. The restroom with flushing toilets has no lights - bring a flashlight at night - and is near tent campsite #9. The cabins also have no electricity so you can't charge anything. Mattresses are provided in them but have no sheets or pillows so bring your own or use sleeping bags on top. As of June 2024, the shower building is under repair due to a tree falling on it so no showers are available. Inside there's also a couch which could be a bed, and a table with two chairs. You're better off using a tent site if you're only here for a night or two. Otherwise this campsite is in an excellent location with lots of great shade, lovely trees, and beautiful lake views a short walk away. Once the store opens again it'll be even better.
One of the only places we could reserve online at the last minute. Worth the stay, no dogs allowed in cabin and the shower situation was confusing on how to get access unless someone left the doors open on accident, so we skipped getting clean that night or the following morning. The lake isn’t right next to any cabin but in some of these pics you can see it in the distance, not a bad walk to it, very easy.
Rentedx6 person cabin close to store and showers. Lock box was broken otherwise 5 star. Comfortable, clean, thick mattresses. Very comfortable and spacious. Brought charger and lantern. Had a great 2 day visit.
