Maple Set Campground Introduce

Nestled along the picturesque FL-2 highway in Sanderson, Florida, the Maple Set Campground offers a tranquil retreat for nature enthusiasts. Perfectly suited for both tent campers and RV adventurers, this campground provides a blend of comfort and wilderness that appeals to all outdoor lovers. The location is ideal for those seeking an escape into nature while being close enough to local attractions and amenities.

  • Shaded Campsites: Each site is thoughtfully shaded, ensuring comfort from the Florida sun. The campsites are spacious, allowing ample room for tents and recreational vehicles, though visitors should note the relatively small buffer zones between sites, making insect repellent a practical addition.
  • Proximity to Water: While not waterfront, each campsite is a short walk away from water access points. Customers have suggested enhancing this by adding foot trails directly from each site, which would greatly improve convenience for boating and kayaking enthusiasts.
  • Natural Trails: The campground boasts well-maintained trails that wind through the surrounding area. A highlight is the 2-mile hike along the river, offering a serene journey through nature. Although some areas may experience flooding post-rainfall, making parts of the trail temporarily inaccessible, the overall experience remains rewarding.
  • Facilities: The campground provides essential amenities including restrooms, laundry facilities, and trash collection services. RVs can take advantage of hookups, while all campers benefit from fire pits and picnic tables for outdoor dining.

The environment at Maple Set Campground is one of quiet beauty, with trails that are meticulously maintained, ensuring a pristine experience. The natural setting is complemented by the campground's proximity to water access points, making it a haven for fishing and boating enthusiasts. However, recent feedback has pointed out challenges in kayaking due to fallen trees downstream, which could be an area for improvement.

  • Customer Feedback: Guests have praised the campground's trails, describing them as "gorgeous" and well-maintained. Many appreciate the easy access to water and the serene atmosphere. One visitor noted, "The campsites are not waterfront, but a quick walk away, which we found manageable." Another highlighted the beauty of the area despite minor inconveniences like flooding affecting certain trail sections.

Maple Set Campground is more than just a place to stay; it's an opportunity to immerse yourself in Florida's natural beauty. Whether you're planning a family trip, a solo adventure, or a group outing, this campground offers the perfect blend of comfort and nature. The serene environment, combined with easy access to outdoor activities, makes it a must-visit destination for anyone looking to connect with nature.

We enjoyed our time here. The campsites are nicely shaded and spacious. The buffer between campsites is relatively small. Insect repellent is a must. The campsites are not waterfront, but are a quick walk to water access. Water access could easily be added by way of a small foot trail from each site as the river is directly behind the line of campsites. The trails were gorgeous and the area was meticulously maintained. No camping trash at all.

Nice 2 mile hike along the river. There is still some flooding in areas, so it makes it difficult to hike past the bridge. Also, near impossible to kayak anymore due to all of the fallen trees downstream.

Quiet tucked-away site along the Florida-Georgia line. 4 spacious campsites just a brief walk from the parking lot. Only amenities are a fire pit, picnic table, and trash bins. Remember to leave no trace!

Very primitive campground. Quiet and small. Very much out there which I liked. Right next to a nice little river.

Beautiful, quiet campsites. Reservations required (reserve America website). Remember to check reservation confirmation email for gate code for access to drive your car to your site. Otherwise, park at trailhead of Maple Set Trail (limited parking, only 3-4 spaces at trailhead). No restrooms or potable water, but each site does have a metal grated fire pit. Dogs allowed (must be on leash). 4 or 5 campsites total. Be respectful of your neighbor and quiet hours.
