1st of all, I would definitely go back. The location is great. Their hospitality couldn't have been better. I rated it a 4 only because online it says there is a bait shop, and it no longer exists. I want to give a 5 star but 4 because there is no in between. If I had not seen that online, I would have had no expectation and gave a 5 star.
We lived here when we first began fulltime RV living. Beautiful setting, there has been a campground at this site where the Maries and Osage rivers meet for over a hundred years, perhaps before that. It has changed hands since we lived here but the current owner continues the legacy amidst the natural beauty of God's creation.
We have visited more than 100 camps and this one is in the bottom 5. Could be the worst camp in the country. Difficult to maneuver in, narrow gate and steep hills. Right on the river, but couldn't really see it through the thicket, steep embankment made going down to the river unsafe. 30 amp breaker popped and fizzled, so we had to use 50 amp. We could barely open the electric box because the water hook up was in the way. Freeway noise was really loud. When checking in owners told us multiple times check out was 11 am. Then called multiple times in the morning freaking out because we hadn't left yet. We left at 9:30 am, so not sure why they were throwing a fit. Kids playground equipment was weak. Avoid this place at all possible.
Nice quiet place next to the river, except for the highway noise. Not too many parking spots, only a couple of pull throughs. Owners are very friendly and helpful. We will definitely return here.
We had a great site overlooking the Osage River. Mark took this over 2 years ago and is working on it but worth the price. He also has a tavern in Taos where we had a pizza and that was great. Nice people and good service.
