We gave 5 stars because of all the pilots for been the best of the best, excellent show, but because of portable toilets were setup far from crowds, needed more portable toilets, it wasn’t convenient. Other than that, we really enjoyed the show!
Attended the Beaufort Air Show at this base last Saturday with my husband. Overall it was great. Parking was very easy (though we arrived mid-day) and the grounds were simple to navigate. They had a great line up (including the Blue Angels!) and did a great job of narrating the show. Honestly the only issue we had was how sunburned we got standing on the blacktop all afternoon (though that is entirely our fault for not packing enough sunscreen). Next time I think we'll shell out the money for one of the VIP packages so we can get closer to the action (though there really isn't a bad seat since the planes are above you) and have a tent or two available for shelter from the sun!
We've gone to at least 6 or 7 of the blue angel air shows in Beaufort. The air show was a big disappointment this year. No good way to see the airshow this year unless you paid $25 for the preferred seating. The layout was different this year so you had to take a shuttle bus to get to the viewing area. The covered preferred seating area was next to the runway and then the consession stands were next so the general public area had no view of of the runway . To make matters worse, the aerial views were obstructed by the covered domes so unless a plane was flying directly in front of your seating area, you couldn't see the maneuvers in the sky. We couldn't hear the announcements either this year. We ended up taking the shuttle bus back to the parking lot and watched from the field. We still couldn't see anything happening on the runway, but at least we could see what was happening in the air. Major bust. We hope they go back to the old format next time the blue angels come back to Beaufort.
I drove 15 hours from Erie pa, to beaufort. I called before I came n was told that I would be able to purchase marine corps gear as long as I provided the necessary documents. ( license, registration, n proof of insurance. ) I came here with the understanding that I would be able to accomplish that. . I was turned away at the gate. I've been trying to get this done for my friend that graduated from there in 67 or 68. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have been going to the Beaufort airshows for year. But it is now very obvious that the airshow is all about the money. You now have to pay to be able to see much of anything. And now you have to walk at least a mile to get to the show area. The static displays were not on par with what they used to be. The Blue Angels also had a shortened show, at least on Saturday. I had guests attend that I had really played this up to that drove over 2 hours to attend and they were disappointed as was I.
