Excellent hiking! Great trails with plenty to see . The creek was extremely low and dry in most places, so if you're filtering your own drinking water you might have to go searching for it. The trail is clearly marked. It is very rocky in places and it's pretty easy to roll an ankle of you're not watching out for it.
Traveling a gravel road allows you to get off the beaten path and REALY SEE our beautiful state.
I moved to Missouri 5 1/2 years ago. There is so much to see and experience. The history here is amazing. I live next to the Mark Twain National Forrest. I love the fact that there are so many cave systems here. The waterways are amazing. Get out and experience.....

Experienced totality in the Mark Twain National Forest during the North American Total Solar Eclipse 2024. Early April weather was beautiful. No mosquitos yet. Easy to navigate forest roads with a full size truck. Very pretty flowering violet/purple Eastern Redbuds and White Serviceberry trees for hundreds of miles from Iowa to the forest.
