This place had a problem with my service dog, despite having documentation etc the lady who worked behind the counter would constantly treat my dog like a pet. Tried to tell me the dog couldn’t join me in areas to perform services for myself etc. Maria? Either way, last time I was there she came into the shower house WHILE I was showering because my dog was in there with me, obviously! She saw me, or at least part of me showering and had the nerve to pretend like it wasn’t her when I went into the office to complain about it. Years later I called to try to set up a reservation and was declined due to their past experience with my dog. Saul and me got along pretty well, so what was the problem? Returned their equipment, paid on time and in full, kept my area relatively clean. Bullsheet
We had such a great stay! I really am so confused by these other reviews. Me & my girlfriend spent the weekend here as a break from our usual busy lives. The bathrooms were clean, I saw an employee cleaning and mopping the bathrooms then doing propane. The office lady manages the office, cleans the bathrooms and does propane! Greeted us multiple times. We had such an easy check in and check out and everyone was very friendly as well! The entire property was clean and quiet at night, which is important to us. The only critique I would give would be that the park has so much more potential to be a great hangout spot! If we find our way back to Martins Camping Ground we will 10000% stay here again.
Brenda was very kind to us with great customer service. Recommend your stay here, very quiet and clean park. Easy pull thrus site. Recommend this place 100%, will be back. Thank you Brenda!
We stayed here for 3 nights while we attended an event nearby. First of all, let’s set some realistic expectations. This is not a KOA or state park campground. There is no pool or playground and you can’t have a campfire. Most of the other campers were people that had traveled for a job and were staying for several months but there were a handful of people just staying for a night or 2 like us as well. That being said, you can’t beat the location if you want to camp and go into downtown Chicago or some of the nearby suburbs. The grounds are well maintained and everyone we encountered was friendly. We felt safe walking the dogs around the campground at night. There was plenty of green space for them to sniff and run around in as well. Brenda, the office manager was super friendly and helpful. She texted in advance of our stay just to confirm and helped put us in a site that worked best for us. We didn’t use the bathrooms except at the very end when we were leaving but they were clean and nicely maintained. The women’s bathroom requires a code to enter which is a nice security feature. You are right next to the highway so there is road noise but we have stayed at several KOAs that are just as loud. Next time we travel to Chicago with the camper we will definitely stay here again!
My stay was here was really great. Brenda was very helpful and smart. Great customer service. Definitely recommending everyone. Will be back again soon. Bathrooms were nice and clean and the park was in top shape. Friendly people and of course the staff.
