- "We just had the best weekend at Marvel. We had never gone in the winter before and it was just as much fun as it is in the summer. It was so peaceful, quiet, and beautiful. The staff are so gracious and the accommodations were excellent. I have been going to Marvel for 25+ years and it is my favorite place to camp. We cannot wait to go back."
- "This is a beautiful resort off the beaten path with NO highway traffic noise—tucked back along the Illinois River. I work with Thompson's Mobile RV Repair, and we are there very often. We have made this an annual family trip to kick off the spooky October season. We absolutely love this family friendly place. They have so many things to keep the kids busy and entertained. I was sad after the haunted trail shut down but, they brought in an awesome monster mash dance party that my younger kids were able to do, unlike the haunted trail. There is basketball, bounce pad, mini gold, arcade, swimming, a restaurant and so many friendly people! Definitely planning another trip next year. The only think I wish would change back is the price of the pumpkin patch. It was $2.00 when we first started but it is now $10.00. My kiddos were sad when I told them we couldn't do it because there are 5 of them but they soon got over it.
Let me tell you... this place is awesome! We had 3 families all meet up at the resort. We had originally planned a State Park meet up, but I'm glad we chose Marval instead. Marval is all around awesome. My family stayed in a cabana, which does not have a bathroom. I was worried about that at first but it worked out fine. We were all so exhausted by the end of each day that it didn't matter. Other family members stayed in a larger cabin and it was nice too. The kids loved the pool(s) and jumping pillow. It rained off and on while we were there and the rock painting in the activity center helped pass the time. We went on Labor weekend and the park appeared at capacity but it didn't feel crowded. All in all a great trip that will be a yearly thing for us. I don't know who owns Marval but it really is a gem. Great for families with kids or even just a couple getaway. They hit the nail on the head with the layout, activities, etc.
This was our first time visiting and we will be back!! Staff was super friendly and helpful and cabins nice and clean as well! We loved all the Halloween activities as well as year round things available to do as well! The employees all seemed to really care and love their jobs,it was nice to see!
Awesome quiet get away for couples or family’s. Plenty of stuff to do for all ages. Fishing the river or relaxing at one of the nice cabins they have. Putt putt , pickleball , air bag , basketball . Saturday night drive in movie at the outdoor movie theater , has awesome sound also. Nice restaurant that serves a little bit of everything. Activities center for the kids and two nice pools. We will definitely be coming back again. Also make sure the kids brings the bikes to ride around the place . Also splurge for the golf cart , it’s nice add on to cruise around on. Very friendly staff that helps with anything.
Our family reunion at Marval Resorts was the best we’ve had in years. There was something to do for everyone and not a single person left disappointed. Not an easy feat with this bunch. Such an amazing staff, especially Brandon and his maintenance crew, for keeping our events running smoothly through the storms that tried to prevent our dinner. One of the staff members even helped my son find worms so he didn’t have to quit fishing. There’s a little something for everyone with a staff that feels like family. Thank you to everyone who helped make our family’s weekend so memorable. We will definitely be back next year!
Lacks luster!!!! It’s just ok. Prepare to be underwhelmed. They talk a big game about all the activities you can do. (Nothing advertised is free) Pools are not heated for starters. Not a deal breaker because it was warm outside. Grounds are kept clean. Campsites are clean and staff is friendly. But outside of the pool and park everything else is for purchase. All arts and crafts, pedal carts, etc. the restaurant is the crown jewel of mediocrity, no decor whatsoever. The only personality the restaurant had was the lady behind the counter. Other than that. No table cloths, plastic folding chairs, zero art on the walls. The kids park is pretty awesome and I recommend getting a camp spot close to it. For Father’s Day It was advertised that there would be coffee and cookies at 9am. It’s 9:40 still no coffee or cookies. Lady said that they didn’t know if they even had the stuff for it. Unsure how the rest of the day’s activities will pan out. Oh yeah gold panning is (8-9 bucks a bag) another planned activity YOU gotta pay for. Kids run unsupervised here and theft is a thing. Make sure you lock your truck and hide anything of value. The only reason I recommend coming here is for the clean facilities, river view campground and pools. Over all I think 3 stars is a fair rating we would come back for the river and clean campsites. I just wish i didn’t feel like every thing here was designed to squeeze as much money from me as possible. And make the restaurant more friendly. Cons. Campground staff doesn’t seem to be ran with any Oklahoma spirit or values. Theft. Kids run unsupervised and things magically disappear or get broken. Everything arts and crafts costs money Go karts cost money 10 dollars for 30 minutes. Cold pools. Staff that is in no hurry. Speeding traffic creates an unsafe environment for the unsupervised children. Pros. Clean campsites and facilities. (Pools, restrooms, etc.) River access. River view camping. Cool playground for kids jumping thing too.
Recently stayed for our family reunion. The cabins were clean and well maintained. Its a location is a couple of minutes from a Dollar General, Harps, Sonic, and a couple of other restaurants. Brandon went above and beyond all weekend making sure our reunion went off without any issues. There was lots of rain but they cleared it away for us. When the pavilion wouldn't stay dry they moved tables and electric for us to use in a different area. All the advertised amenities were provided and reasonably priced. It was a bit crowded but everyone seemed to respect each other space. Overall I would highly recommend checking this place out.
My family rented a total of 10 cabins for 5 to 6 days. There was another big family there breaking into workers/ guests vehicles at night. They stole firearm, cash and a cooler full of alcohol. When we brought this up to management they shrugged it off. So we waited up one night to see if we could catch them and surely enough like clock work we caught them rummaging through vehicles(after curfew of course). When we told management they said they needed us to point out who was there from the group and we did. To which they the. Told us that they couldn't do anything because (we really dont have enough security cameras). On top of all that our golf cart wouldn't charge due to a faulty cable and when we tried to exchange it they blew us off until we had to push it up hill because it was dead. When we asked them why they did that they said they it was “because we wanted to give you a chance to do the right thing and charge it at night”. The management company that runs this place now only cares about managing how much money they can keep from you when they mess up. The entire vacation made me sick because all i kept thinking was i cant believe i paid money to be here.
