Recent customer reviews for Mayfield Lake Resort and Marina present a concerning picture, particularly for campers and those intending to use the amenities. One reviewer described the campsites as resembling a "parking lot" and found them to be "too expensive" for what was offered. They also noted the absence of fuel availability and the "run down" condition of the docks. The store's unreliability in adhering to posted hours was also a point of disappointment.
Another reviewer shared a negative experience regarding a campsite on the island. Contrary to information received when calling ahead, the site did not have direct water access, with the view being obstructed by trees and rope. The walk to the island, despite being described as short, was reported to be narrow, with inclines and a significant elevation change, requiring the use of provided carts. Notably, there is no water (drinking or otherwise) available on the island, and guests are advised to bring their own.
The store's limited stock and strict adherence to closing times were also mentioned, with service being refused even a minute after the stated closing time. The bathroom facilities reportedly require quarters for use, described as a "1990s" feature, and obtaining quarters may be challenging if the store is unattended. Issues with the bathroom facilities included a leaking toilet with brown water and a lack of toilet paper in another, which was not refilled.
Safety concerns were also raised, with one guest reporting an injury from a rod protruding from the ground. Based on these recent experiences, one reviewer strongly advises to "avoid if you're tenting or need to use the amenities," indicating significant dissatisfaction with the current state of the resort under new management, which was perceived as a "serious downgrade from the prior owners."
Given the strong negative feedback regarding the campsites, amenities, and overall experience, potential visitors should carefully consider these recent reviews before making a reservation at Mayfield Lake Resort and Marina. No positive aspects or promotional information were highlighted in the provided reviews.

Camp sites are a parking lot, did not see any rooms inside, but outside not impressive, no fuel available, docks are run down, camp sites too expensive for a parking lot. Expect a little store to be higher prices, but store not being open during posted times disappointing. I've come here many times over the years and this new company is a serious downgrade from the prior owners. Very disappointed.
We got a campsite on the island. Called ahead to ask if it was right on the water and if it was a short enough walk because we had to carry our camping equipment. They said it was right on the water and that the walk is very short. Turns out there is no water access at all on the island. The view is blocked by trees and rope. The walk isn't short. They gave carts for you to carry your stuff. But the walk is narrow and goes up and down with quite a hike onto the island because it's elevated. There's no water at all (drinking or otherwise) on the island. Bring water with you. The store doesn't carry much stuff. If you come in at 5:31 PM they won't serve you because they close at 5:30. The bathroom requires quarters because it's the 1990s. You can get quarters at the stores IF there's someone there (which sometimes there isn't even mid day on the weekend). The toilet had a leak. The water in them is brown. One toilet didn't have toilet paper and they didn't refill it. Also, watch your step as you walk, one of us got hurt from a rod that poked out of the ground pretty randomly. We normally don't review campsites, hotels, etc. But this was so bad. Avoid if you're tenting or need to use the amenities
Stayed at this "resort" this summer. Horrible experience. Garbage over flowing in restrooms, fly's everywhere. The staff had a real IDGAF attitude. Prices in the store were a complete and total rip-off. My kids wanted to now why we were camping in a parking lot.
We visited the marina during our stay in Washington (we stayed at an Airbnb, so I can’t speak for the hotel rooms). The marina itself is fantastic, with beautiful views and great parks for kids. Perfect spot for a relaxing stroll.
I rented the 14 ft aluminum fishing boat for an 8 hr period. The boat was in decent shape and the motor was practically new, but there were some issues that negatively impacted the experience. The boat was technically 14 ft long, but it had this weird thin aluminum cover over about 3ft of the bow. This bow cover is probably helpful for storing stuff. However, if you're fishing two people in the boat for a one day trip, it's really annoying. We might as well have been fishing in a 10-12 ft boat. It was definitely too thin to sit or stand on safely. Basically, despite being a 14 ft boat, it fished like 12 ft boat. Save yourself $10 and rent the 12 ft boat. You pay for 8 hours, but you don't get 8 hours. If you rent the boat for 8 hours or 1 day, it's from 9am-5pm. However, the rental office does not open until 9am and it closes at 5pm. Meaning, if you get there at 9am, you'll be on the water at 9:15 at the earliest, and when you return the boat, to get it back in time, you'll be trying to get docked at around 4:45. Thus, if everything for check in and check out goes smoothly, you only lose about 30 minutes of your rental time. When I rented a boat, we were second in line and didn't get on the water till closer to 9:40, so we lost about an hour of time on the water that we paid for. Overall, at $135 it's an okay price for the boat, but don't go in expecting too much. The staff were helpful and seemed genuinely interested in making sure everyone had a good time. I probably will not be renting a boat again, but I would consider camping here.
