Customer Reviews
The front desk staff was very friendly and professional. Very smooth check-in. I was impressed with the cabin HOWEVER When we arrive the cabin was not very clean. Beds were made but the floor/carpet could have been vacuumed. We do take our shoes off and stepped on a lot of stuff. The rooms have NO cable, you have to cast from your phone to the TV. The reason I gave service a 3 is because front desk was great and deserves a 5, but we had no housekeeping while we were there. The location was great. We're about 5 minutes from the zoo. About 10 minutes from the village which is downtown.
Cabins have been renovated and are very nice and comfortable. The area is beautiful and peaceful. Location is great within driving distance of the town.
The cabin is very nice. The window on the loft opens up as well as the bayhroom and the masterbed. The big windows in yhe living room doesnt. it is more for looks. Theres no oven. Therrs a coffee maker, fridge, gas stove, microwave. The utensils and plates and coffee cups along w cooking spatulas are also provides but make sure they are clean before you check out. There's no ac so good thing we went there last weekend (July 26-28 2024) when the weather isnt too hot otherwise it will be miserable in that cabin. There's no phone to contact customer service. They will not lend you a fan even though the customer service said they would. The tent site have no electricity. They allow you to pick up wood sticks to use as firewood. There are no guard at the gate. Theres a recreation room where yiu can use board games for free... there are no pool tables just a bunch of tables and chairs to eat and a clean restroom. The volleyball court is nice, the floor is made out of powdered sand so it doesnt hurt your feet.
Cabins are simple and straightforward, just like you'd expect with MWR. Surprisingly good Wi-Fi. Only downside is the older cabins do not have air conditioning. This is probably not usually an issue, but during a record breaking heat wave in July it got very hot, especially in the lofts. The temperatures went down enough at night that we were able to use a fan from Vons to cool down the loft. We will definitely try to stay again in the winter.
The worst trip ever. I understand that big bear is more known for winter but we came up to visit in July. What place has no ac, and only heat with only 1 ceiling fan in the whole cabin with giant windows that do not even open! That was awful! They do not clean very well because whoever stayed in the cabin before us left food in the cabinets. Also tons of dead bugs on the floor, and on the night stand. I would not say its very kid friendly with how large the gaps on the stairs are, there was no hiking trails that allowed strollers walking distance from the facility. I 100% would never stay there again and would not recommend a stay to any friends or family regardless of what time of year it is.
