The park is also a haven for water enthusiasts, with fishing opportunities available on-site. Anglers can cast their lines from the fishing pier, though they may encounter some challenges due to the surrounding weeds. For those seeking a different kind of adventure, the lack of a beach area allows visitors to focus on other activities, such as kayaking or paddleboarding in nearby lakes.
McCullough County Park provides modern and clean restroom facilities and showers, ensuring that guests can maintain their personal hygiene while enjoying nature. The camp sites are equipped with essential utilities, including electric and water hookups, making it convenient for RVs and tents alike. However, visitors should note that the campsites are tightly packed, and there is limited shade due to young trees that are still growing.
One of the most appealing aspects of McCullough County Park is its affordability. With rates that cater to budget-conscious travelers, families, and groups, this park offers great value for money. The peaceful setting and lack of crowds make it an ideal spot for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life.

However, some guests have noted areas for improvement. The tight campsites and lack of shade are recurring themes in reviews, with one camper mentioning that they would expect more mature trees for better shade coverage. Additionally, the fishing pier is surrounded by weeds, which can be frustrating for anglers. Despite these drawbacks, the overall impression from visitors is positive, with many highlighting the park’s charm and tranquility.

Good atmosphere. Other than us and another camper everyone else was local so, lots of friendly people. Since the lake is a main attraction, it seems like all other options are not cared for as much but we still managed to hike (only few yards deep though) on some of the poorly maintained trails. Bathrooms and shower ok but do not expect too much. Overall, nice peaceful place to bring a family.
Visit: Camping at end of July. Pros: almost 2 miles of wide and mowed nature trails. Clean, modern bathrooms. Affordable rates. Quiet. All modern electric and water hookups Cons: tightly packed camp sites. no shade - planted trees still not to full size. Fishing pier surrounded by thick matt of heavy weeds. No beach.
My husband and I came to the area for a wedding and decided to stay at the campground. We stayed for the weekend and was by the water. Other campers were quiet and kept their dogs leashed at all times. We brought our two small dogs and everything was fine. I never used the shower facilities, but they were clean. The bathrooms were pretty clean and my husband was very impressed. We were by the lake and walked onto the dock occasionally. The campground is rather small and all we seen were the multiple campers in front of our view. Pretty much no privacy and packed in like sardines. We prefer more privacy and not the "sardine effect". However, for a place to stay over a weekend, especially since we were not there as much, the campground sufficed for our Needs.
Nice campground, have a perminent sight here. Host and family are really nice, and all 9 other perminents are really nice and treat you like family. They also have 20 other sights for the weekend campers, playground area for kids and a pravillion for any activities you would like to plan while you are there. Very well kept up shower and restroom areas for you to use while you are camping here.
Not a bad location but nothing to do at all. Your not allowed to use the dock overnight anymore. You cant use the dumpster without the sheriff's department coming to your house. There's no shade or even a pop machine within 9 miles. No beach, no boat landing, they raised the rent almost 50% per night this year. Me and or my family-friends will never be staying here ever again. P.s. This place is now garbage, not even close to worth what they're charging now.
Really enjoyed going to this park. Now they have turned most of it into seasonal camping. Very hard to get a reservation. Why would you let people camp all season in a county park!? Very nice showers, host are very friendly. No beach. If it didn't allow seasonal campers I would give it more stars.
