McKaskey Creek Campground, located at 358 McKaskey Creek Rd SE, Cartersville, GA 30121, USA, and reachable at (678) 721-6700 or +1 678-721-6700, offers camping experiences within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category. While the campground is noted for its scenic beauty, customer reviews indicate potential drawbacks related to site accessibility, noise levels, and the prevalence of poison ivy.
Several reviewers have highlighted the campground's beautiful and quiet environment. However, significant concerns have been raised regarding the size and accessibility of campsites. One reviewer, who paid extra for a lakefront site, reported limited lake access due to steep descents and abundant poison ivy. They also noted that the site was too small to comfortably accommodate their tent and gazebo. Additionally, issues with overcrowding and noise levels have been reported, with some guests experiencing disturbances beyond designated quiet hours.
The prevalence of poison ivy is a major concern, with reviewers warning that it is "everywhere." This poses a significant risk, especially for individuals with sensitivities to the plant. One reviewer even had to relocate their site due to the abundance of poison ivy.
Key concerns and issues reported:
- Limited lake access due to steep descents and poison ivy.
- Small campsite sizes and difficulty accommodating tents and gazebos.
- Noise disturbances beyond quiet hours.
- Overcrowding and parking issues.
- Pervasive poison ivy throughout the campground.
- Lack of host enforcement of quiet hours.
While McKaskey Creek Campground offers a beautiful setting, potential campers should be aware of the reported issues. The prevalence of poison ivy, in particular, warrants careful consideration. Campers should also be prepared for potentially small campsite sizes and the possibility of noise disturbances. It is recommended to carefully select campsites and take precautions against poison ivy exposure.

We booked site 12 for Labor Day weekend. We paid extra to be beside the lake. We could see the lake at a distance but could not access it due to the poison ivy and steep descent. Our spot was so small we could barely get our tent and screen gazebo in the slot. The picnic table would not fit inside our gazebo due to the huge size. We had to move it out of the pad. Sites were very close together. Quiet time was designated to begin at ten o’clock. Our neighbors came in the second night with three tents on their spot and four cars, one which blocked us in. We had to ask them to move. That night they were so loud we finally had to go ask them to quiet down after midnight. No host ever came through to witness the chaos next door. We are leaving a day early to avoid another night of kids screaming and adults talking and laughing so loud if felt like they were in our tent with us. No thank you, we won’t be back.
Really enjoyed staying at this campground it is absolutely beautiful quiet and clean. The only issue is the poison ivy!!!! Camper beware poison ivy is everywhere I mean everywhere and I am highly allergic to it, in fact upon looking at our original reserved site we had to move because of the poison ivy.
We camped here and found it to be very nice. No one was close to us but I can see how when it is full you could be very close to the nxt camp site. Bathrooms were fairly clean and there is 1 handicap shower with a hand held sprayer.
First time camping with our toddler. We didn’t want to go to far just in case she didn’t like it so 20 min from Cartersville MAX. Was a great thing for us! The site was pretty close to the water so my husband fished all night long. There were rocks to the water so taking the kayaks was kinda hard but there is a boat Ram if wanted. The beach area was nice too pretty clean and not too deep for the kids! Reservations were pretty straight forward online. Bathrooms start cleans but obviously while the weekend went by they got more and more dirty. Definitely recommend if you just want to get away for a little while.
We arrived on Thursday and left Monday. It was a perfect weekend in the perfect spot [site 19/20.] I wish it was easier to get in the water from the campsite [the rocks were insane.] It was more convenient to go to the beach which didn't allow pets so that was a little disheartening. Otherwise, even at its busiest it was still peaceful and we felt safe. The park staff were super friendly and helpful, which is always a plus. Will definitely be back
