This little area used to be full of trees. Old growth, Blue spruce and huge conifers. Lots of lodgepole pines everywhere. When the pine beetle ravaged all the wood, the place has turned barren and a mere shadow of itself. It was never busy. It was wild and the dispersed camping spaces were very secluded. The last time I was there, it was overrun with people, trash and the ground had been stomped flat. All the beetle kill has been stripped away and the wildness of this place is gone. From what I hear, is not even open anymore. Beautiful memories, nonetheless.
Beautiful area! We stayed for two nights. Do NOT build wood fires in the pits - we got a big ol' fine for it. Controlled propane fires are okay. Road is pretty rough. There is an outhouse near the reservoir. This is bear and moose country, so hide all your food at night and be careful! Wonderful weekend spot.
Great place for boondocking. We have really enjoyed the quiet and beautiful scenery.
Great area to camp but does fill up quick. Watch out for evening hail storms
The campground is currently under construction, we used dispersed camping. Not a lot of spots and flooding in places...I would recommend 4x4. Had to drive back and forth for fishing access to Meadow Creek Reservoir.
