It's worth the drive. Trail was not bad at all. I saw at least 3 trucks pulling trailers and 5th wheel trailers from the camp ground area.

Absolutely beautiful, we love coming to this area and had been to many surrounding lakes before staying at Meadow. And yes, it’s a trek if you’re bringing a trailer. Slow, but doable. The only reason I’m rating 4 stars is because of the camp hosts. It was our first time camping here and we weren’t aware there was a fee to stay. We didn’t make it to the main camp area because we picked a spot alongside the lake coming in and never saw any signage posting fees. After completely setting up camp we were approached by the camp hosts for payment and they only accepted cash or check. We didn’t have a check book, however we did have a $100 bill…. BUT apparently they didn’t have change…. so they gave us the option to either leave the premises before a certain time, or drive into Truckee to get exact change (which was well over an hour round trip). Not to mention our truck and trailer was still connected. We ended up scrounging for coins and $1.00 bills to make it happen — super unappreciative of their pushy attitude. So BEWARE if you camp here, BRING EXACT CHANGE OR A CHECK BOOK to pay camp fees. Otherwise you may run into these “American Land and Leisure” hosts who have no problem telling you to leave . Love the lake though, you won’t regret the trek!

The last 10 miles are gravel and dirt with some trickier spots to drive thru closer to the lake but nothing too extreme. We there in late July and snagged the last campground arriving on a Friday at 3ish. Most sites have a pretty good amount of shade. Plenty of room for ATV's and dirt bikes. Each site has a table, food locker and fire pit/grill combo. Vault toilets were restocked daily but 3 toilets for 15 campsites seemed like a stretch so we did use our bucket toilet. Make sure to pack in and pack out all your trash. There is no water available here so pack enough for cooking, dishwashing and drinking. Minus one start for the muddy lake entry and all the dirt that gets kicked up when you are walking into the lake making it super murky.

A little tough to get to four wheel drive recommended. But people did pull trailers in fifth wheels in there, I don't know how.

Great get away. Very long dirt road. Google will send you the wrong way. Unless you have a tough truck!
