I value the reviews left here, so I felt I needed to leave an honest review in hopes it will help someone else. We stayed here for almost 2 weeks. During that time there was a sewage smell near the bathhouse. The sites are not level and most are not shaded or very wide. We also had brown water and were extremely thankful for our multiple water filters. We paid for a 30 amp service, but had low voltage the entirety of our stay. The solution that was proposed, was that we remove our Watchdog EMS and Surge protector. We decided to keep our Watchdog on. They had several campsites on the same breaker, something we have never seen at any campground in our 3 years of travel. On our last day, we didn't even have enough voltage to keep fans running inside our RV. Please be aware that low voltage seems to be an ongoing problem as an RV behind us had an electrical cord burn up while we were there.
Well here ya go, we travel all over this great country and we love staying at family owned camps but this is not the place. First impression is an old house and trailers that look to have been here for a decade. Secondly the lot they gave us was horribly un level so making it a lot of work to get set up. The spot was nearly all dirt, the grass was far away from our door leaving us to step in mud to get in. We Requested a refund for one of the two nights and that was quickly refused. Proof of the condition and temperament of the camp. I strongly suggest NOT making this one of your memorable stops in the beautiful state of Maine.
Not like the pictures. Trashy campground. Unlevel sites. They advertise a Good Sam Campground but don't give you the discount. I asked when I arrived and was told they would write it down and ask the owner about the discount. He was tired and would get back to me. We arrived half hour before check- in and was told we could not check-in. Then they made an exception when I asked them which road they wanted blocked with the 38ft motor home pulling the pick-up. When hooking up the sewer cap was screwed on so tight it was cracked so the previous camper just pulled the whole fitting off and stuck their sewer hose down the pipe. I had to take the fitting to the office and they just stuck a new one over the pipe with no glue. The 30 amp electric service only showed 3 amps. I had to ask again for them to fix it. There was lots of confusion trying to find the breaker box location so they just went from box to box in the campground and finally told me my site wasn't marked anywhere in any box. About an hour later my power was restored. The owner never contacted me about the Good Sam discount or credited my account. The location of the campground was great for area destinations. Area is awesome for Freeport, Bath, Portland.
Big campground with a little of everything. Rough hilly roads to the outskirts and along the water for some amazing wooded tent sites and nice easy access up front for the RVs. Great general store and a country setting. Not fancy but has it all, including many showers and a laundromat that wasn't busy. Bugs were minimal even by the marsh, late August. The lobster (crazy amazing thing to have it delivered freshly cooked to our tent at 8pm) was better than the Virginia Eastern Shore lobster we tried a couple weeks ago. Great gem of a campground.
don’t understand why they mow the lawns every single day?? It’s noisy when camping is supposed to be relaxing and sends pollen up into the air everywhere. pool has missing cue ball and sticks are broken. Food is definitely good but that’s honestly probably the only good thing I can say about this place.
Beautiful place! Great spots and so close to so many other amenities.
