"It's a beautiful area but I don't think I would recommend it for a first-time camping experience. If you do spend time here, make sure to clean up really well and use your bear box for ANYTHING with a smell (food but also lip balm, air freshener, soaps, etc.). stay safe!"

Customer Reviews
Not only did the price go up significantly this year but the service went completely down. The restrooms trashed and most of them didn’t have paper towels or toilet paper the 2 days we stayed. Disappointed.
my group spent time at Meeks Bay Campground at the start of June. upon checking in, we were given an extensive safety talk regarding the bears in the area. each campsite has a bear box and the dumpsters have locks to deter bears. throughout the first night we heard lots of car alarms, which we later learned was to scare off the bear(s) in the area. the next day and through the night there was a bear wandering through peoples' sites and eating from their tables. we had a car alarm system from site to site to try and guide it back into the woods but it only seemed to be deterred by people yelling at it. we had bear spray but it was hard to enjoy ourselves once it got dark and we were hearing people yell about the bear more frequently. eventually the bear charged our campsite and we heard another site spotted a second bear with a cub going through their trash. there were park rangers patrolling the area with guns by the end of the night. we decided to check out early, as did nearly everyone else camping there. ): it's a beautiful area but I don't think I would recommend it for a first-time camping experience. if you do spend time here, make sure to clean up really well and use your bear box for ANYTHING with a smell (food but also lip balm, air freshener, soaps, etc.). stay safe!
Be bear aware! The campground is nice, but the bears are the real problem makers. The first time he came at 6pm and stole unhidden food from a neighboring camp. He walked around the tents until 5 am! Nobody was sleeping. We decided not to stay there a second night and leave the campground early
The campground is small and quiet, has beautiful beach and crystal clear water! Host bob and his wife are helpful and friendly. The toilets are clean, always see people clean toilets! but no bathroom for campers! also dog can’t walk on beach! we had good time here! not sure my dog lol
This is my favorite beach in Lake Tahoe! We arrived at 12 p.m on Sunday and there were still parking spaces. but at 2 p.m. there were no more places. I thought the water was colder than the beach in Nevada, but the water was crystal clear!
