Customer Reviews
Review for Campground specifically: We came camping here for the second time this summer and I’m once again impressed that for $20 you can get a wooden pavilion, fire pit, grill, Adirondack chairs… and an amazing camping experience! People have been so respectful and kind while we’re here, it’s quiet and peaceful, the hiking trail is beautiful. We’ve heard they stock wood for you, but we’ve had to bring our own both times, so not sure how true it is. We love this campsite. The only downside is that you can’t drive your car up to your site, there’s a small lot you park at, then have to walk to the site but all of them are really close by, and even with a toddler and a good amount of supplies, with a wagon and prep it’s not a problem for us. The pros very much outweigh the cons. Will continue coming back every time to this place!
5/9/2022: After days of rain, some sections of the blue trail by the creek in the east side of woods are flooded. Wear waterproof boots, you may be able to tiptoe thru those areas. 03/27/2021: This is the park I come often for hiking in the woods and then picnic with friends. It has a playground, a picnic pavilion and restrooms in the area. The campground is close by with hiking trails in the woods. You can also hike/bike from here to the lake area, or the whole Mercer County Park area, big enough for you to enjoy a whole day. Good for family activities.
No motorized camping vehicles. This was not clear on the website so we arrived with our small camper to a closed gate. We tried to call the park number but no one picked up. We got a hold of the rangers and they said it was ok for us to stay parked outside for the night since we had already paid online for a campsite. But online it’s not clear that this is hike in only. Apart from that the sites are very nice. It says on confirmation that check in is between 1 and 5, which is also not accurate since there is no office to check into so you can come whatever time you want as you just walk in anyway.
Beautiful place for a large gathering. Clean restrooms and ample parking space
West Picnic Area has no public picnic tables. Nothing on website tells you this at all. Guess you are supposed to figure it out once you drove all the way over there. Signs for East Picnic Area end before Old Trenton Road and don't show you which way to go after that. Need to go a half mile back up Old Trenton Road and make a left. No signs there, either. Picnic areas you need to use Google maps to find and no public picnic tables in the picnic areas. Makes all kind of sense.
