Meridian East / Toomsuba KOA Journey Introduce
Introduction / Overview: True Southern Hospitality in the Mississippi Pines
For Mississippi travelers—whether you’re crossing the state on Interstate 20 or seeking a peaceful local getaway—the Meridian East / Toomsuba KOA Journey is a highly-rated and well-established destination. More than just a simple overnight stop, this campground has earned a reputation for its genuine Southern hospitality, cleanliness, and the serene, woodsy atmosphere provided by the towering Mississippi pines. It is ideally positioned to offer a quiet, restorative retreat without sacrificing the convenience of proximity to major travel arteries.
Operating under the trusted KOA brand’s “Journey” designation, the focus is on ease of access, long pull-through sites for big rigs, and essential amenities that allow travelers to pull in, relax, and ease back onto the road the next day. However, this park offers significantly more than the basics, providing amenities like a pool, game room, and premium site options that encourage longer stays. As one visitor shared, “This KOA felt more like a community than just a stop along the road, and it left us with such a positive impression. We’re grateful for the hospitality and will happily stay here again...” The owners and staff are frequently praised for their kindness and commitment to maintaining a clean, welcoming environment, making every guest feel like part of the campground community. The sites are nestled among the trees, offering plenty of shade and a campfire-friendly environment that feels wonderfully rustic.
Location and Accessibility: A Convenient Stop off I-20/59
The Meridian East / Toomsuba KOA Journey boasts an excellent location for both long-distance travelers and local Mississippi weekenders. The campground is situated at 3953 KOA Campground Rd, Toomsuba, MS 39364, USA. Its key logistical advantage is its proximity to the intersection of Interstate 20 and Interstate 59 (I-20/I-59), making it an effortless exit for those heading toward Jackson or Birmingham.
Specific directions guide travelers to Exit 165 (Toomsuba), turning south toward the Love's Truck Stop, and then following the clearly marked KOA yellow signs. While the final mile is along a quiet country road, this small distance is what shields the park from the noise of the interstate, preserving the peaceful, woodsy atmosphere praised by guests. Though it feels secluded, the campground is just a quick 15-minute drive from the city of Meridian, MS, which offers a full complement of retail, dining, and cultural attractions, including the Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Experience (MAX) and the historic Dentzel Carousel. This balance of quiet nature and urban access is highly valued by local and visiting campers alike.

Customer Reviews
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Wonderful Stay at Meridian KOA We truly enjoyed our time at the Meridian KOA. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and at ease. The campground is clean, peaceful, and beautifully kept, with plenty of space and shade to relax after a long day of travel. The staff were so kind and helpful, always making sure we had what we needed. The little touches around the grounds, like the planters and inviting seating areas, made it feel cozy and cared for. The pool area was bright and cheerful, perfect for winding down on a sunny afternoon. This KOA felt more like a community than just a stop along the road, and it left us with such a positive impression. We’re grateful for the hospitality and will happily stay here again the next time we’re passing through.
Giving it 5 stars due to the site we had on the end and the corner. It does slope a bit so we had to use two legos on the one side which made our steps a bit high. However an overnight we were good. Lots of trees very woodsy feeling is you are going for that. Over all decent place and nice workers. No escort which isn’t a big deal but it was a little confusing going around with all the roads. But no biggie we did fine. It did rain so we didn’t get to enjoy the whole site but it would definitely be nice for a campfire. #rvnewadventures
An excellent campground. I lived here for nearly 10 months in my camper. During this time new management has completely renovated much of the site adding a really nice pool, revamping the game room, and generally improving the buildings. My four kids loved to run around the grounds and play at the playground. If you are looking for a great spot to pull in for the night, or kick back for a few days, this is worth the look.
We stayed in this park in late March of this year. It is absolutely delightful with a great rustic and wooded setting. Our 3 star review is because we accidentally left our Dica leveler pads on the site when we left. Yes, it was our fault for sure however they did promise they would keep them for us until we could retrieve them. Sadly, they now cannot locate them now. 😔😔😔
Our first KOA experience left us wanting more! We hated to leave when we had to, and would let anyone else interested in a KOA know that if they are ALL like the Meridian East/Toomsuba Campground, stay as long as you are able! The whole place is a treasure...great game room, fantastic swimming pool and outdoor areas, and lovely campsites with new tables for outdoor dining. Although we didn't see inside the cabins, they are cute and well maintained, and in their own area. The hosts are onsite and available to visitors. They are a lovely family who turned their love of camping into a fabulous resort campground. We had our RV, and no towed vehicle, so were confined to the park so we got a really good look over a 3 day two night stay. We'd go back anytime we are over that way. It was worth the drive!
