We have stayed in Cabin 7 twice. Love its location right on the Metolius River. The cabin is a cozy A-frame with a cool sleeping loft. Nice kitchen and bathroom, and beautifully decorated. Large picture windows open to the big deck with a view to the river. From here there is easy access to the Camp Sherman store and easy hikes along the river's edge to the Wizard Falls fish hatchery.
I stayed here once before with my mother, and although it was far from perfect (fridge kept breaking down during our summer trip, noisy guests next door kept yelling and playing on instruments, dogs kept running around off leash), the cabin was still beautiful and comfortable to stay in. We were also hoping things had improved with the caretakers. The opposite occurred. This time, the cabin was dirty and corners had definitely been cut in terms of maintenance. The maid service did a terrible job prior to our arrival -- they left nasty hairs everywhere, there were dead flies and cobwebs all over the place, the cabin was NOT clean. The caretakers promised us to remove the cleaning fee after our stay, since we informed them of our cabins poor condition and one of them came over to see it, and agreed. They did not refund our cleaning fee, however, so it was basically a lie. The dirty cabin wasn't the only issue. The sprinkler system right next to the bedroom window went off at 1:30am every night and woke me up, completely ruining my sleep. The annoying part was that it was raining quite a lot during our stay, so the sprinklers were not only obnoxious but also a waste/pointless. The fridge and hot water heater under the sink kept going off too, very loudly for long periods of time even when we weren't using any hot water hours prior. The remotes were missing batteries and the tv did not work as instructed. The toilet kept running for long periods of time and eventually backed up/stopped working, we had to plunge it ourselves as it was late in the evening. The stairs are also uneven and some are going to cave, which will be a safety issue in the near future. None of the cabins are secluded. Someone can look in to your windows easily from walkways and other cabins, (and they often did) and they are all pretty close together. They were once very nice cabins, but had been taken care of poorly in the three year span between stays. I would not recommend staying here, it is not a true resort. This is not worth $400 a night.
Cabin had a lovely view of the river. Kitchen was well-stocked with dishes and kitchen tools. Weather was cold and snowy and we enjoyed the snow. Am giving 4 stars because there weren't enough blankets, in my opinion. Had a hard time finding enough linens for the sofa bed.
A magical and peaceful getaway! These cabins are incredibly well decorated and put together. Nothing is out of place. A perfect place to get cozy by the fireplace with friends, family, and your loved ones. There are a few stores in the area but most are closed due to COVID. There is also a nearby restaurant. I recommend bringing your own groceries. I can’t recommend this place enough!
I spent a weekend there with a friend recently and absolutely loved it. We stayed in the largest cabin, #11, and although I would disagree with the website's description as more secluded than the other cabins it was the epitome of luxury and tasteful decoration. The resort was quiet and peaceful and the beautiful Metolius river is an incredibly special place--like no where else I've ever been. I'll be back as soon as I can.
