This is my favorite campground in my area. We absolutely love the old growth forest with massive amounts of ferns and wild flowers. We also love the swimming hole, swinging bridge, and hiking there in general. The flora and fauna is gorgeous! My favorite thing though is that you aren't camping right on top of your neighbors.
So lovely! We were actually only visitors to the campsite of some friends of ours. It was an easy detour from the Mt Hood scenic drive, and just as easy on the eyes. I like how the individual camping sites are nicely separated by the trees and foilage. Parking was easy for two vehicles near the two tents pur friends had set up for themselves and their kids. From the camp it was an easy wall across a cute bridge and through the area where I took the pictures I've posted here. The path is easy to walk along, and it takes you to a clean, lazy, and shallow stream where some people were taking a dip while others we catching crayfish with their hands or simply enjoying the scene from the banks. We were told that this area can be crowded, but we nearly had the area to ourselves when we walked out there. The friends we visited are locals to the Portland area. It's a drive out to this spot, but they find it a worthwhile spot to go and grill up some bratwurst and asparagus while the kids play with the dog or run a Dungeons and Dragons game. Very nearby is a spacious park with a basketball goal and also a frisbee golf course. I think this place is great, especially for families.
Overall the park is nice. Signs directing visitors to their camp sites are non-existent after a certain point. They start off frequent and clear, then they just stop. Beware, if you're going in an RV, know where your site is before you go too far. The frisbee golf course is good. The walking trails are well maintained. Showers were fine. Overall a nice stay.
This is definitely a great family friendly park tp hangout and bring friends to play volleyball, do kickball, go camping at, they have a 3 1/2 foot spot for getting in a creek that is right in the park. Trees surrounding everywhere
