It was ABSOLUTELY worth it to camp here. It's technically private ground and the owners have asked folks to pay to use it (to help maintain the property) - you can find that online via "hip camp" which is basically the AirBnB of camp sites. Despite just a tiny bit of light pollution, there were still thousands of stars visible at night, and it was so peaceful to listen to the critters by the San Juan river at night. No bathrooms, so pack in / pack out please! I can highly recommend this campsite!!

Great peaceful place to dry camp. Pay online and come and go. Prepare for everything to be covered in dust/dirt, and go enjoy! Not much close by so take what you need.

Scenic, not much to do there. Hike a bit. San Juan River is close. No services. Not sure if pay camping is in certain spots or not. Ok for a night. Can get dusty

There is some pots in the road only for trucks I had to turn around my sedan. But found other parking spots.

Cool area where you can actually get down to the San Juan River. But... there is nothing there. Someone wants $18 to camp in a dust bowl. Better off going to Gooseneck State Park for $10 and an incredible view. Also, it seems Mexican Hat Rocks Camp is trying to claim all the area, while their signs only point to right (south) side of the road. Seems to be a lot of free space that they don't own, but want you to pay them for it. Move on.

Wonder how much money this outfit is making off of the free, nearby dispersed camping BLM area? Mexican Hat Rocks Dry Camping, seems to have strategically placed their sign at the begining of the road, saying it's a pay area and to go online to pay. But beyond that, there's no further distinction of what area is theirs to charge for. However, only part of the area, beyond that sign is their land, the rest is free BLM. Also, the $18 fee, to camp on their land, is much too high. Do your own research on the boundary line. Don't fall for the likely scam they are running, getting paid by unsuspecting campers, staying in the free BLM camping area.
