Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Gatlinburg

About the only thing this place had going for it was its location. Our room was so nasty when I asked if it had been cleaned they kept assuring me it had. There was hair in our shower, garbage in the floor, our beds smelled horrible and there was just nasty everywhere. Check out was pretty great. You got to do express which was very easy. So happy this was only a 1 night stay. We have stayed here multiple times and each time I feel like it’s just got worse and worse.

The location and price of Microtel Gatlinburg are amazing. However, the cleanliness of the room was very discouraging. My wife and I frequently try older, less modern, hotels when we travel and have found most to be pleasantly welcoming regardless of the age and overall hotel condition. Unfortunately, this Microtel was disgustingly dirty. When we first arrived there were food crumbs, receipts, and other trash about the floor. You could tell, without a doubt, that the floor was never cleaned between guests. Furthermore, there was human hair all over the bed linens and on the bathroom floor. We understand that sometimes hair can be difficult to get off of linens. However, these beds should have never been made with linens that were still covered in hair from previous guests. Lastly, my wife almost made us leave the night she found a cockroach crawling across the counter in the room. We loved this location and I believe this hotel could be great but, in it's current state of cleanliness, I could not recommend it to others or plan another stay at Microtel Gatlinburg.

I was not expecting a luxury stay by any means, but I am incredibly disappointed in this hotel. Check in was easy, and that was about the best part of our stay. The hotel is very run down, and especially the bathroom. The bathroom looks to have been converted to be accessible, but as the photos show, it was shoddily done. The drain cutout was uneven and sharp, and there was a significant drop between the tiles and the drain which presented a safety hazard. Water damage was evidence in the bubble in the bathroom ceiling. The bathroom did not have any heat reaching it, so the floor became slippery due to condensation after a shower. Overall the hotel feels very run down, and not worth the price when other hotels offer better conditions at similar prices. We visit Gatlinburg fairly often, but will not return to this location.

The location of this hotel is terrific. Close enough to walk to everything and free parking. The room wasn’t sparkling clean, but it’s older. I made sure to walk around in socks so I wouldn’t get in bed with dirty feet. Fresh towels and garbage emptied daily. You definitely get what you pay for. I would stay here again.

The staff was friendly to us. The breakfast is cereal and Little Debbie cakes. The coffee shouldn’t be labeled as “coffee”. The room was what we payed for. I’ve stayed in worse, but definitely better. The saving grace is the location and the amount of money saved not having to park in town. It’s definitely not the most secure place either. Doors are kept unlocked at all times and the elevator is wide open to the public. It was a place to sleep and that’s about it.
