Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Ocala

This place gets a 2.5. Very mid, not the worst but not the best. Staff seemed fine but we didn't interact with them much. The room was clean enough but definitely wasn't done thoroughly (plaster on the floor, spots on the faucet, a cockroach decided to say hi, stains on the sofa and carpet). The tub had a busted knob but otherwise worked with surprisingly good water pressure and hot water so that was nice. You can tell the place gets the "landlord special" in terms of maintenance. I really appreciate the smoking ban. Be warned that they take a $50 deposit at check in. All in all its fine for a night or two. You can definitely do worse.

The hotel was nice, the staff other than one female were really nice and polite and the rooms were a good size. Actual good amount of hot water with good water pressure- which is amazing for most hotels. Enjoyed having a little table and chair set in the room. The breakfast offerings were white bread, raisin bread, bagels, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt and pancakes. Downsides the construction on the road in front of the hotel made it harder to get to, the ice machine in the lobby was out of order so had to go upstairs for ice and the curtains didn't block light from outside very well- it was as bright as daylight at 2am.

Kids and I enjoyed our stay. Indulged in breakfast. And the staff night prior to us checking in was very customer service oriented. Thank you for having us!!

My stay was absolutely terrible. I understand I got a pet friendly room, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be clean. There was what looked like poop on the sheets on the second bed, fortunately the other bed was clean (looking) so we just slept in the clean one. It smelled musty/moldy the second we walked in. The curtains were stained and had rips/holes that looked like cigarette burns. The walls were stained with what looks like pee or some other kind of moisture, it looked like dried drips. There was a significant amount of dust/dirt, especially on the A/C system, which was not working properly. There was a small piece of glass on the floor. There was a hole in the wall by the window AND what looks like mold in the window area. We encountered MANY roaches, dead and alive, which I have videos and photos of. The walls were very thin and we heard all the noise. There were people sleeping out in the lobby when we got back after our daytime activities. And the cleaners came knocking on our door to clean not once but TWICE before we checked out. Once around 920 and once around 1030. There should be a system in place so they know who has checked out so they don’t disturb sleeping guests. There was sketchy people hanging out out front of the hotel during the evening time as well. Breakfast consisted of waffles, bagels, bread, cereal, and I believe there was yogurt. Due to the cleanliness issue I did not eat. Would not ever recommend this hotel or return. Seems like a good deal til you realize this truly is “you get what you pay for”. Extremely disappointed. Only plus is that it’s located right off the highway, and had easy check in and out. Was told new management is taking over when I talked to the current manager about our issues.

This was a spur of the moment “we have to stop driving” stay. The lady at the desk? 5 stars, chefs kiss. It starts at the elevator, that you can barely fit 2 people with the luggage cart. No biggee, we figured it out. You get out of the elevator and are hit with a smell that came straight from a nightclub, cigarettes and weed. Ok, it’s just the hallways, right? Nope. Get to the room and it smells like they just had a party. Like a full on ashtray mixed with weed. The carpets? Absolutely nasty. I kept my shoes on the whole time unless I was in bed. My husband foot literally STUCK to the carpet. I checked for bugs and we were ok there. If you have to stop because you need sleep, there’s another hotel around the corner that HAS to be better than this one. Anyway, just my opinion……
