38 Renegade - Beautiful scenery! Gravel/dirt road to CG but well taken care ofnot major pot hokes or washboarding. About 30 minutes out from Lake City. Pick your site carefully if your a big rig! Probably 3-4 would hold us and that includes first come sites. 22 sites, small loop. Boondocking at its best. Spigot water hand pump but it came out rustywe passed. No dump. Come well prepared. Lake City has some groceries, gas but pricey!!!Milk was $5, regular gas was $1 more than larger Colorado gas stations. July-August is the busy season. Jeep & Polaris rentals are popular at $300-600 per day to take the Alpine loop. Mill creek CG is on the start of the Cinnamon Pass traillots of Jeep/Polaris traffic, all dayheavy heading up to the pass. Road is across the river from site 18but in our rig, not objectionable August can be rainy. There was a bull moose walking down the CG loop, deer& this is bear countrywe didnt see one! We camped at Mill Creek Campground in a Motorhome

We stayed in this campground in early August 2023. We arrived late in the afternoon on a Monday and there were several sites to choose from. It is well maintained. The vault toilet restrooms were clean, not stinky and well-stocked. There are two hand-pump wells for potable water available. It is conveniently located in a very scenic valley on the south section of the Alpine Loop Scenic Byway, about 11 miles by a good condition, unpaved road from Hwy 149, south of Lake City. It was very quiet and peaceful.

Great Campground! Spent some time talking with the camp hosts and they were super friendly and helpful. Site was clean and easy to use. Had a couple of flat spots to set up my tent. We saw some deer running through the woods. Cleanest pit toilets I have ever seen - smell was clean too!! Other campers were friendly and respectful and the quiet hours were observed. And you can't beat the price at $7/night.

Stumbling across this campground late in the afternoon after coming over Cinnamon Pass was very fortuitous. I visited in the latter half of September so it was only about one third full. I'm sure in the summer you need to get there early to get a spot. Was only $7/night, very clean vault toilets, drinking water via a hand cranked pump. Beautiful and quiet.
