Talk about the idyllic winter getaway! The cabin we stayed in was so cozy and family friendly. We had everything we needed to stay in and enjoy a weekend in the snow. We prepaid for a meal (veggie lasagna) that they left in the fridge for us to cook in the oven there. It was delicious! This was a return trip for us to these cabins and it will be a place we enjoy in all seasons.

We’ve been coming to Mill Creek Resort since 2008 and continue to come back every year. We originally found MCR when searching for dog friendly places near Lassen. But we loved it so much we’ve been coming back year after year even as the dogs have passed on and the human kids have joined our family. We’re from the Bay Area and appreciate getting into the woods and escaping from our busy life. The cabins can be considered rustic to some who live a life of luxury, but it’s a great place to relax in a serene natural setting. The cabins are well stocked and feel like home. Having enjoyed our trips with the former owners, Joe and Jillian and the crew now have taken the Resort to the next generation of stewardship. Their love for the land is apparent in all they offer. While we’re all sad that the restaurant has not been open for a few years, I can respect their business decision and appreciate their support of and recommendations to neighboring business. We love to come in winter and just get out of our cabin front door and play in the snow, walk to the seasonal end of the road, and just generally explore the neighborhood of Mill Creek and the surrounding area. We can’t recommend this place enough to anyone who loves getting into the woods (with limited cell coverage and no TVs) but still likes a mattress and heater. ♥️

If you want to get away, this is where to go. No TV, no WiFi, no cell reception; bring lots of books to read. Make sure you have enough gas in the car and lots of groceries. If you time it right, like going in winter, you might get to enjoy that rarity in crowded California: having the woods pretty much to yourselves. The cabin is small, even for two people. However, that means it heats readily enough. Everything was in good repair and operated as expected. The water tastes fantastic. The bathroom's a little tight to negotiate, but the shower warms pretty fast. Because of the trees and ridges, sunrise is delayed and twilight is a little earlier. Use the extended dark to catch up on sleep. Never saw or even heard the hosts. I guess there were people working to make this happen, or maybe trained forest creatures keeping things in order.

Mill Creek is such a hidden gem in the mountains! My husband and I rented a cabin for a weekend trip and the moment we arrived to the property felt relaxed and at ease. Everything from the clean, cozy and cutely decorated cabins, to the nature walks on the property and trips to swim in the creek felt so special. You can tell the owners put a lot of love and care into this property -- we will absolutely be back for a weekend getaway!

Mill Creek Resort is one of my favorite places. It is all so thoughtfully done. From the unique, cozy cabins to the fabulous deck- it is the perfect spot to spend time with friends or loved ones connecting back into nature and each other. I have hosted women’s wellness retreats here for the last several years with great success. I have already booked several dates for next summer! The surrounding area is great to explore and the creek is a the best spot to spend the afternoon!
