Minaret Falls Campground Introduce

Welcome to Minaret Falls Campground, a rustic camping experience within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, located in the scenic Reds Meadow area of Mammoth Lakes, California. Reachable by phone at (760) 873-2400 or +1 760-873-2400, this campground offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Eastern Sierra Nevada.

Minaret Falls Campground is known for its off-the-beaten-path location, providing a less crowded and more secluded camping experience compared to other campgrounds in the Mammoth Lakes area. The surrounding environment is characterized by stunning views, a nearby creek, and a beautiful waterfall visible from some campsites. However, it's important to note that access to the campground involves a single-lane dirt road with sharp turns and smooth dirt hills, which may pose challenges for larger trailers and during wet weather.

Based on customer reviews and general campground information, typical services and features may include:

  • Designated campsites suitable for tents and smaller trailers or pop-up campers.
  • Access to a creek and nearby waterfall.
  • Proximity to hiking trails and smaller lakes.
  • Rustic camping experience with limited amenities.
  • Vault toilets (no flushing toilets or sinks).
  • Potable water access that may be difficult for filling larger trailer tanks.

Real customer feedback provides valuable insights into the camping experience at Minaret Falls Campground. Campers have noted that the campground is better suited for tents and smaller trailers due to the challenging access road and unpaved, uneven campsites. They also report that fishing in the immediate area is not particularly good, but the campground serves as an excellent base for exploring nearby lakes and hiking trails. The absence of showers and flushing toilets contributes to the rustic camping experience, which some campers appreciate as a way to truly connect with nature.

The location of Minaret Falls Campground makes it an ideal base for exploring the outdoor wonders of Mammoth Lakes, including:

  • Hiking along the numerous trails in the Reds Meadow area.
  • Exploring nearby lakes for fishing and recreation.
  • Enjoying the scenic views and natural beauty of the Eastern Sierra Nevada.
  • Experiencing a more secluded and less crowded camping environment.

Minaret Falls Campground offers a unique and rustic camping experience for those seeking to escape the crowds and immerse themselves in nature. It is advisable to check for availability and be prepared for limited amenities and challenging access conditions. Visitors should also be prepared for varying weather conditions typical of high-altitude environments.

Experience the tranquility and adventure that Minaret Falls Campground offers. Embrace the natural beauty of Mammoth Lakes and create unforgettable memories in this scenic outdoor haven.

Ok I have been spoiled by campgrounds that are nicer in my opinion. 1st: Single lane dirt road in and out with lots of sharp turns and smooth dirt hills. 2: Hard to get potable water in your trailer. 3: Unpaved or leveled campsites. 4: Not a place to go with a 25' or larger trailer 5: No flushing toilets or sinks to wash up after restroom use. This campground is better suited for rent or pop up trailers. Be wary if there is rain in the forecast if you don't have four wheel drive and are pulling a trailer. Beautiful views and fishing isn't very good in the immediate area. I will not go back with my trailer. Tent maybe. Have fun !

Although there are no showers, who really goes camping to stay squeaky clean anyway? I've spent the last handful of years camping in the mammoth lakes area and i must say my finest experience was at minaret falls. Off the beaten path it is a nice change from the over crowding i can sometimes find a convict lake. Plus, you're never going to find big foot unless you set up camp deep into the bush. Minaret Falls has a nice creek that runs lateral to the campground. A beautiful water fall was in view from our campsite which i must say was a very nice thing to wake up to every morning. Surrounded by a number of smaller lakes, it is the perfect base camp to travel out of to go fishing and/ or squatching. I would highly recommend this campground. But after reading this please stay away because i want to be the one to catch the biggest fish and capture big foot. That being said this is not Meagan its her brother Dustin. Peace.

A basic campground in a beautiful location. This locations provides so much opportunity to enjoy. You can simply enjoy camping in the outdoors. You can enjoy small hikes to Devil's Postpile or Rainbow Falls. You can fish along the San Joaquin that has plenty of stocked rainbows and wild rainbows and browns if you persist. It also is a base for countless hikes heading towards those unique Minarets and alpine lakes at higher elevations. Get your bear canister, your permit and go spend a night or two in the backcountry.

Great campground, super friendly host, clean bathrooms, potable water from the spiket, perfect location to explore the valley. Watch the sunset on the river right before you start the campfire for the night, it's about as perfect as it gets to end the day. Also, no mosquitos ( we went mid august). Has bear lockers too..
